School is in session: takeaways from eTail Boston 2025
ECommerce leaders from across the country gathered at eTail Boston last week to share the trends that are shaping their 2026 agenda. Here's what we heard:

Many brands are preparing for a future where AI agents handle shopping for their human clients. Already, the rise in embedded commerce on platforms like TikTok Shop and Google has taught consumers to expect an algorithmically-curated shopping experience. Leaning into AI-driven targeting and personalization has helped some businesses capture this traffic.
On the other hand, as AI drives consumers and brands further apart, many eCommerce leaders are seaching for new (low-tech) ways to keep their customers engaged. One DTC brand shared how embracing real customer stories over "gimmicky" attention grabs helped them convert more site visitors.
We had a great time at "Retail University"! Thanks to those of you who stopped by our booth to say hello.

What happened in Vegas: takeaways from CULC 2025
On the other side of the country, a team from Extole took the floor at the Credit Union Leadership Convention in Las Vegas. We heard from lots of credit unions who are eager to capture the attention of younger consumers. Currently, Gen Z makes up only 10% of all credit union membership, and Millennials just 21%. We made sure to share how word-of-mouth marketing helps CUs reach these key demographics—91% of young consumers rely on friends and family for financial advice.

Preventing customer attrition was another key theme. Just as in the retail industry, traditional channels of member acquisition have become costly, leading credit unions to turn their focus to ensuring retention and increasing customer lifetime value. We're looking forward to more conversations with CUs in Phoenix next month!
