With the new Precision Human Health Lab, Dr. Michael Stickland (Professor, Division of Pulmonary Medicine) and Dr. Stephanie Thompson (Associate Professor, Division of Nephrology) aim to better understand how exercise can be used as a safe and effective clinical tool to improve exercise tolerance and quality of life for people with multiple chronic diseases. Dr. Monty Ghosh (Assistant Professor, Division of General Internal Medicine) has been monitoring wastewater for a research study and says the use of carfentanyl, a synthetic opioid used in veterinary medicine to tranquilize large animals, rose dramatically in June when drug overdoses in the province spiked.
