Dear Triton parents and families,

As spring quarter comes to a close, campus is filled with all the energy that comes with the end of an academic year: final projects and exams, move-out plans, commencement celebrations and anticipation of what comes next.

For many of your students, this moment marks the end of their first year at UC San Diego. For others, it may be the close of another year of growth, discovery and hard work. And for our graduating Tritons and their families, it is the culmination of an extraordinary chapter — one shaped by persistence, curiosity, community and care.

No matter where your student is in their UC San Diego journey, we know this time of year can bring a mix of emotions. There may be pride and excitement, but also stress, uncertainty or long lists of logistics to manage. As families, your steady support makes a difference in all of it — the big milestones, the everyday encouragement and the quiet reminders that your students are not navigating this experience alone.

This month’s newsletter includes important information to help your student close out the year and prepare for what’s ahead, including move-out reminders, summer health care access, academic support resources and updates about the new Triton Student System. We hope these resources make it a little easier to support your student through the final weeks of the quarter and into the summer months ahead.

Thank you for all you have done this year to support your student. Every time you helped them work through a challenge, celebrated a success or simply reminded them they were capable, you helped shape their UC San Diego experience for the better. We are grateful to partner with you and look forward to continuing that partnership in the year ahead.

Best,
Margot

Triton One: New equitable access textbook program launching fall 2026

Two students sitting in front of their laptops with lower third writing: UC San Diego Triton1 One Price, One Place, Books Day One.

We are excited to announce Triton One, a new equitable access textbook program for UC San Diego students that will launch fall quarter 2026. The program will provide access to required textbooks for students at a flat rate of $199 per quarter. Materials in this program will be provided in a digital-first format on Canvas and will be available to students no later than the first day of classes. For more details, visit tritonone.ucsd.edu.

Move out 2026

Your student's nine-month housing contract requires them to vacate their space by 3 p.m. on June 13, 2026, or within 24 hours of their last final, whichever comes first.

Students who may need to stay beyond their contracted move-out day can submit a late stay request via the Housing Portal beginning on May 11; requests must be submitted before June 1. Submitting a request does not guarantee an approval to stay. The Residence Life Office where your student lives will review the request, and limited approvals for a late stay will be made if they meet certain criteria and provide documentation.

Global Ambassador Program applications now open

The Global Ambassadors Program (GAP) is a virtual summer-long peer mentoring program designed to assist incoming undergraduate international students in acclimating to a new environment. GAP mentors provide friendly support and help nonresident students create solid relationships within the UC San Diego campus. The program pairs two to three incoming undergraduate international students with current students in order to encourage cross-cultural exploration and create a positive transition process for incoming students. Being a GAP mentor is an unpaid leadership and volunteer opportunity.

Rady School of Management's master's programs in accounting and quantitative finance do not require work experience or prior business coursework. UC graduates receive a guaranteed $10,000 UC Scholars award, plus additional merit-based scholarship consideration.

The application deadline for the MPA program is June 30, and the MQF deadline is July 15. Learn more at upcoming information sessions.

Co-Curricular Record validation and internship applications

As the 2025-26 academic year comes to a close, Experiential Learning at UC San Diego facilitates both reflection and looking forward to future opportunities. The Co-Curricular Record (CCR) is a complimentary transcript with over 1,200 connected campus opportunities, highlighting student campus involvement along with the skills developed beyond the classroom.

The validation deadline for 2025-26 is June 30, 2026, so students should log-in to the REAL Portal to request validation for their experiences for the year to ensure their experiences are being recognized. For students seeking quarterly internship opportunities in fall 2026 or winter 2027 in Washington, D.C. (UCDC) or Sacramento, CA (UCCS), through seminars and internships, applications are still being accepted for both programs!

Triton CORE here for year-end transitions

As we prepare to transition into summer, it’s important to recognize that spring quarter is often one of the busiest and most demanding times of the academic year. With midterms, finals, graduation planning and upcoming transitions, this period can feel overwhelming for some students. During these times, students do not have to navigate distress alone — that’s where Triton CORE comes in. Triton CORE is a mobile response team made up of licensed mental health professionals who respond directly to students wherever they are on campus. This service is especially helpful for students who may be:

  • Feeling extremely overwhelmed or unable to cope
  • Struggling to care for their basic needs, such as eating, sleeping or attending class
  • Having frightening or distressing thoughts, including thoughts of harming themselves

If you are concerned about your student, you may contact Counseling and Psychological Services at 858-534-3755 (select option two after hours) for guidance. You may also consult with a Triton CORE by calling the UCPD Non-Emergency Line at 858-534-4357. These services will help determine the most appropriate next steps.

Don't forget health insurance and access to care this summer

If students had the UC San Diego Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP) during spring 2026, their coverage continues through Sept. 20, 2026. We encourage your student to use Student Health Services before they leave for break!

Summer health fee waiver reminder: To avoid being enrolled in UC SHIP for the next academic year, please remember to file a new health fee waiver during the fall 2026 waiver period (August 3-September 11, 2026).

Access to care for non-SHIP students/billing expansion: In addition to directly billing UnitedHealthcare PPO plans, Student Health Services plans to begin billing Anthem Blue Cross PPO, Blue Shield PPO and UC Care by the end of summer.

Reduced Access Fee for Tritons (RAFT): This is a great option for students who have private insurance but want the convenience of accessing low or no-cost care at Student Health Services on campus. The cost of RAFT will be $75 per quarter in academic year 2026-27 and students may opt in during the health fee waiver process.

For more information about the university’s health insurance requirements, students and families can register for one of Student Health Services' upcoming Zoom webinars.

Triton Student System (TSS) launches this summer

This summer, UC San Diego will launch the Triton Student System (TSS), which will become the new student portal for key student services, including course booking (formerly “enrollment” in MyTritonLink), schedule of classes, final grades, academic history and financial information. The transition is part of a larger university effort to modernize aging technology infrastructure, and UC San Diego is committed to making this a smooth, phased transition.

An email was sent to current parents and families on May 23, 2026, with additional details, and a snapshot of what to expect in the coming months is below.

July 2026

  • TSS launches mid-July.
  • Students will be assigned a Triton Student Number (TSN), which replaces the PID as their student identifier in TSS.
  • The schedule of classes will be released, and continuing students will receive an email to begin fall 2026 course booking (formerly "enrollment") in mid-July.

August 2026

  • Course booking opens for new and transfer students.
  • Beginning August 6, new students can authorize a payer to receive fall billing notices. Current students do not need to reauthorize their existing payer.

You can help by encouraging your student to review all TSS-related university communications. Visit the TSS Project Website for updates and reach out with questions to the TSS team at esr-student@ucsd.edu.
