2026 George Cowie West Ham United Football Camp in Armidale Armidale is set to welcome aspiring young footballers from across the region this July as the 2026 George Cowie West Ham United Football Selection Camp comes to the city for an exciting two-day program at the Rologas Sporting Fields. Taking place on 13–14 July 2026 and proudly supported by Armidale Regional Council, the camp will provide boys and girls aged 7–16 years with a unique opportunity to train under the guidance of internationally recognised coaches from English Premier League Club West Ham United F.C.
Are you a digital creator, or could you be a digital creator? Armidale Regional Libraries has announced the launch of the Digital Creators Club, a new after-hours initiative designed to connect and support digital creators aged 14 years and over. The club will meet regularly at Armidale Library’s Digital Creative Studio and will have access to equipment, technology and mentoring. If you are, or would like to be a digital creator (or if you have skills you may be able to share as a mentor), please connect with the Digital Creators Club!
Council submission aims to unlock opportunities for our region Council welcomed the chance to provide comment on Transport for NSW's draft New England Northwest Regional Integrated Transport Plan. The submission sets out how the New England Northwest Regional Integrated Transport Plan can unlock Armidale Region’s role as a central hub for the New England Renewable Energy Zone, enable investment in sectors including controlled environment horticulture, renewable energy, manufacturing, and critical minerals, while improving safety, productivity, and liveability. It covers several key recommendations, and stresses Council's readiness to partner with Transport for NSW to scope and deliver on those actions.
CBD Laneways getting an upgrade Armidale CBD laneways are getting an upgrade! Lighting and signage are being installed in three of Armidale’s newly named laneways from 17–26 June. The following laneways may be temporarily closed while work is underway: Bank Lane, Imperial Lane, and Tattersalls Lane. Works will occur during business hours (7am–5pm), and there may be some construction noise.

REZ mobile office coming to region Community members will have a new opportunity to learn more about the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) this June, with EnergyCo launching a new REZ Mobile Office (RMO) in our region.Designed as a convenient and accessible way to connect, the mobile office will travel to locations across the New England and Upper Hunter, making it easier for people to speak directly with the project team. Residents are encouraged to drop in, ask questions, get the latest updates and share feedback on the REZ. No bookings are required, everyone is welcome. The REZ mobile office will visit Armidale at the Energy Co offices on Tuesday 22 June from 12pm-6pm. The initiative aims to keep conversations open as planning for the REZ continues, ensuring community feedback plays an important role in shaping outcomes for the region. Ryanda Street upgrades Works on Ryanda Street are almost complete, with the final asphalt (AC) seal now in place. The road is expected to be fully completed and reopened to normal traffic flow in the coming weeks. The upgraded drainage network has already had its first test during a recent storm event, performing as expected and helping improve the resilience of the area. Council would like to thank local residents for their patience and cooperation while these important works were carried out.
Community battery research in the New England region Researchers from the University of New England are inviting residents of the New England region and local stakeholders aged 18 and older to take part in a 45-minute focus group and/or interview about their views on a neighbourhood-scale community battery and its benefits and value-sharing.
