Megan Miranda

Hi friends,

I hope everyone is doing well. It’s been a while since I’ve sent out a newsletter, and suddenly, summer is almost here again! This has always been my favorite season, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ll have a new book coming out in less than two months. So, without further ado…some news and a giveaway!

COMING SOON: SUCH A QUIET PLACE

My new book, Such a Quiet Place, will be published on July 13th, and I’m very excited for this story to be out in stores soon. It centers on a group of close-knit neighbors where everyone believes they know everything about one another — until a crime occurs on their street. It recently received a starred review from Booklist, who called it “a powerful, paranoid thriller.”

You can hear me talk a little more about it (and read the first page!) on Instagram or Facebook.

I love the cover for this book so much — it’s eerie and unsettling, just like the neighborhood itself. I can’t wait for everyone to meet Harper and Ruby and all the residents of Hollow’s Edge.

MORE ABOUT SUCH A QUIET PLACE

We had no warning that she’d come back.

Hollow’s Edge used to be a quiet place. A private and idyllic neighborhood where neighbors dropped in on neighbors, celebrated graduation and holiday parties together, and looked out for one another. But then came the murders of Brandon and Fiona Truett. A year and a half later, Hollow’s Edge is simmering. The residents are trapped, unable to sell their homes, confronted daily by the empty Truett house, and suffocated by their trial testimonies that implicated one of their own. Ruby Fletcher. And now, Ruby’s back.

With her conviction overturned, Ruby waltzes right back to Hollow’s Edge, and into the home she once shared with Harper Nash. Harper, five years older, has always treated Ruby like a wayward younger sister. But now she’s terrified. What possible good could come of Ruby returning to the scene of the crime? And how can she possibly turn her away, when she knows Ruby has nowhere to go?

Within days, suspicion spreads like a virus across Hollow’s Edge. It’s increasingly clear that not everyone told the truth about the night of the Truett murders. And when Harper begins receiving threatening notes, she realizes she has to uncover the truth before someone else becomes the killer’s next victim.

Pulsating with suspense and with the shocking twists that are Megan Miranda’s trademark, Such a Quiet Place is Megan Miranda’s best novel yet — a twisty locked-box thriller that will keep you turning pages late into the night.

PRAISE FOR SUCH A QUIET PLACE

A July 2021 Indie Next Pick

“Miranda, who makes the setting, where everyone knows one another and ends up fearing one another, all the more chilling for its seeming normality, is a master of misdirection and sudden plot twists, leading up to a wallop of an ending. A powerful, paranoid thriller.” —Booklist, starred review

“The twists keep coming until the very last page. Agatha Christie fans will welcome this 21st-century update on the classic golden age village mystery.” —Publishers Weekly

PAPERBACK NEWS & GIVEAWAY

The Girl from Widow Hills will be available in paperback on June 15th. To celebrate, I’m holding a giveaway for some of my previous adult paperbacks. Read on below for more details!

Everyone knows the story of “the girl from Widow Hills.”

Arden Maynor was just a child when she was swept away while sleepwalking during a terrifying rainstorm and went missing for days. Strangers and friends, neighbors and rescue workers, set up search parties and held vigils, praying for her safe return. Against all odds, she was found, alive, clinging to a storm drain. The girl from Widow Hills was a living miracle. Arden’s mother wrote a book. Fame followed. Fans and fan letters, creeps and stalkers. And every year, the anniversary. It all became too much. As soon as she was old enough, Arden changed her name and disappeared from the public eye.

Now a young woman living hundreds of miles away, Arden goes by Olivia. She’s managed to stay off the radar for the last few years. But with the 20th anniversary of her rescue approaching, the media will inevitably renew its interest in Arden. Where is she now? Soon Olivia feels like she’s being watched and begins sleepwalking again, like she did long ago, even waking outside her home. Until late one night she jolts awake in her yard. At her feet is the corpse of a man she knows — from her previous life, as Arden Maynor.

And now, the girl from Widow Hills is about to become the center of the story, once again, in this propulsive page-turner from suspense master Megan Miranda.

BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

2021 has been a fantastic reading year so far! Here are a few recently published books I’ve been reading and enjoying:

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It
By Elle Cosimano

A mystery writer discussing the plot of her book at a local Panera is accidentally mistaken for a contract killer in this twisty, suspenseful and hilarious read. The first in a series, and I can’t wait for the next one!

Mother May I
By Joshilyn Jackson

Chilling, thought-provoking and hauntingly written, this thriller about a kidnapping starts with a bang and doesn’t let up, asking how well you truly know the people around you — and how far you’re willing to go for the ones you love.

The Girls Are All So Nice Here
By Laurie Elizabeth Flynn

Set at a college reunion, this is a propulsive thriller that focuses on the darker complexities of friendship, and the long reach of the past. I couldn’t put it down.

Happy Reading, and I hope you’ll be able to join me at a virtual event this summer!

Best,
Megan
