We are very excited to officially announce our next new product, Fluxx Remixx! This version of Fluxx is something pretty different... it's a variation on the base game. It all started with an idea we had for a joke. There are so many different great ways to pair up the Keepers in Fluxx to make new Goals... why not replace the regulars with all new ones on April 1st in the app? Then see how long it took folks to notice.

It turned out that wasn't feasible to do in the app, but then we thought, "What if this were an actual product?" Owners of Fluxx 5.0 could keep the regular Keepers, New Rules, and Actions, but swap in the new Goals and see how their gaming group reacted the next time they played! (Note that you can totally do this with Fluxx Remixx... and April Fool's Day is coming up in just a bit!)

But then we realized we wanted to go bigger. Several long-time fans had been requesting a Fluxx with a little extra meat on it. We decided this was the time! So in addition to changing up all the Goals (which really does mess with your head if you've played 5.0 a bunch!), we added the standard Surprises, as well a whole host of the most chaotic New Rules and Actions, including a few brand new ones, like Taskmaster and Personal Goal. The end result is a companion to the base game that we're dubbing the Extra Chaos edition.

So, what's the "chocolate," or most used Keeper, in this deck, you ask? It's a tie between Music and The Cosmos. The Cosmos is the only new-ish Keeper, having only been in Fluxx 4.0 before this. All the rest are the same as Fluxx 5.0. We've got lots of great Cosmos combos, as well as a really fun dose of musical references... not just from the Music combos, but by adding song references to some of the other Goals as well. For example, Toaster + Sun = Hot Stuff (Donna Summers), Eye + Sun = Gotta Wear Shades (Timbuk 3), Brain + Peace = Imagine (The Beatles), and Eye + Cosmos = Starry Starry Night (Don McLean).

So there you have it... a companion base game with more chaos, all new Goals, and musical undertones: Fluxx Remixx!

So our 25th anniversary is officially over, since it is now 2022, but our Silver Jubilee Celebration is not! In fact, it's in a bit of a messy state right now, and we're very sorry for that!

For those who may not have heard, Kristin developed a bad case of diverticulitis in September, and spent a total of 30 days in the hospital in the last 3 months of 2021, culminating in an emergency operation that removed a foot of her colon. She is 6 weeks into an 8 week recovery period and only working about half time, but is finally truly on the mend after months of antibiotics and a liquid diet that led to her losing over forty pounds!

This led to us having to make some very hard decisions about what work to prioritize with the reduced staff and added stress and labor of love caring for Kristin. We felt extremely bad about leaving all of you hanging with regard to the Silver Jubilee raffle and events, but we just had to prioritize some more pressing projects, like getting Olympus Fluxx and Olympus Loonacy to the printer, and getting moved into a new software program before our lease was up on our old software.

We did manage to get our holiday gift out, and both the holiday gift and the Silver Jubilee packs being added to every order is officially over. (That said, if you should have received one and didn't, please let us know!) For those of you in the UK, we are sorry we have not been able to ship to you lately due to Brexit laws, but we have held aside some of both gifts, and will be putting them in UK orders just as soon as we can start shipping to you again.

Leaving all of our fans in a sort of limbo for months has been difficult, and now that things are a bit more under control again, we would like to spend the next two weeks or so getting some more proper closure for our Silver Jubilee celebrations.

What exactly does this mean? Well, for starters, we are going to hold four more events over the next two weekends to make up for the ones we had to cancel. Everyone is invited! To sign up for any or all of these events, just click on the event number and fill out the registration form. We hope to see you all there!

We will also (finally!) be finishing up the 4th quarter rare items raffle. For the 100+ of you who participated, please accept our apologies for the long wait, and look for an email with instructions about how to proceed with bucket placement coming out on Wednesday, 2/2/22!

We truly have enjoyed getting to know you all so much, and had tons of fun spending time with you! In fact, we've had so much fun that we've decided to keep it going... at a much slower pace... indefinitely! We are planning to hold online events every few weeks or so throughout the year... some geared towards fans, others toward retailers or educators. We are also planning to host a new contest once a month or so. We won't use Gleam any more, as our subscription year is over, but we will find new and fun ways to create some fun together! And we will continue to put out fun giveaway items from time to time. Morgan, our graphic designer, is working on some new Zoom backgrounds right now! (And don't forget the Valentines we put up this time last year!) So please continue to follow along. We hope to get to know even more of you as time goes on, and maybe even visit some of you out on the road once it's safe to do so!

If you have a specific idea for something fun you'd like to see us do, be it an event, giveaway, contest, or whatnot, please let us know at marketing@looneylabs.com! And thanks again for making our Silver Jubilee year a huge success and an amazing blessing through these tough times!

MARCH
2023?

MidSouthCon 2022

Both the 2020 and 2021 MidSouthCons had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Kristin and Andy had very much hoped to attend as the the gaming guests of honor at MidSouthCon in 2022, as they very much enjoyed their first time at MidSouthCon in 2012, but due to local laws, the event organizers are unable to require the level of Covid precautions that the Looneys would be comfortable with, so we have regretfully cancelled our appearance. Hopefully there will be another chance in the future, and we do apologize to MidSouthCon organizers and guests for not being there.

MidSouthCon is the longest-running annual fan-run multi-genre Science Fiction Convention in the Mid-South. It covers a diverse section of fannish culture that includes Science Fiction, Fantasy, Science, Comics, Horror, Education, Costuming, Anime, and Gaming. MidSouthCon has an average of 2200 attendees, including over 100 authors, editors, publishers, scientists, artists and other guests and panelists. It features more than 200 hours of programming, including panels, the annual Art and Charity Auctions, a Masquerade costume contest, and more. There are also hundreds of hours of gaming running non-stop throughout the weekend.

SOMETIME IN THE
FUTURE?

Versacon 2022

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled by the organizers due to Covid and lack of resources and volunteers. Should it ever happen, The Looneys would be happy to be guests of honor at this brand new convention in Louisville, Kentucky.

Versacon is a brand new comic and gaming convention in Louisville, Kentucky. It will be held at the Galt House, and you can sign up for details here

Q: Since it's almost Valentine's Day, how did you and Kristin meet?

A: The short answer is that we met at NASA. As for the long version, it’s a story I actually wrote up to be read aloud at our wedding, and you can still read the whole thing at my old website: The Search for a Perfect Soulmate.

Happy Valentine’s day everyone, and I love you Kristin!
