Dear students,
The number of cases of Covid-19 in Auckland and around New Zealand continues to increase. This was expected, and we have systems and plans in place to support us through this period. New Zealand has now moved to Phase 3 of the Omicron response plan. The change will see the definition of close contacts change and rapid antigen tests (RATS) more
widely used.
Key points
- Only someone who has Covid-19, their household contacts, or household-like contacts will need to isolate.
- All other contacts will be asked to monitor for symptoms, but they don't need to isolate.
- Rapid antigen tests (RATs) will become the primary mode of testing for Covid-19 and will be available from GPs and pharmacies.
- Our campus remains open for those who want to use the facilities.
- If you are a confirmed case or a household contact of a confirmed case, please follow all public health guidelines including self-isolation, and email studentsuccessaic@op.ac.nz
as soon as possible to let them know.
How you can help
- Please ensure that your contact details are up to date in Student Hub. Head to
the Student Hub and click the ‘My details’ button. This information will be critical if we need to contact you about a campus case.
- Please ensure you are scanning in using the NZ Covid Tracer App when you are on campus.
- Please wear a mask. Mask wearing is a key part of preventing the spread of
Covid-19.
- Please continue to practice good personal hygiene by changing your mask at least daily and washing your hands regularly.
- To stop the potential for spread, try to limit your contact with others outside your immediate learner group.
- Vaccination continues to be a key way to reduce the virus spreading. We encourage you to get your booster if you’re able to do so. This page tells you all about the booster and how to get one.
- Keep up to date with information by regularly checking your emails.
