My commitment remains the same in upholding the integrity of our Council and exploring ways to collectively contribute to building a sustainable local government area. Thank you again for the support and I will continue to work with you to ensure Strathfield is still the best place to live and work. We are looking forward to this weekend’s Homebush Vibes Festival. You may have already observed that we have made a change from our usual annual Spring Festival. In order to be more budget-conscious for the benefit of our residents, we have opted for a more modest approach. This year’s event will feature an evening of entertainment, showcasing local culinary delights and live music from local artists. Please join us on Saturday afternoon from 3.00pm at Rochester St and be a part of a great way connect with your fellow residents and have fun doing so. See you there!! Council has endorsed a report that will outline the feasibility and options for weekend/night markets in our LGA. As this was one of our election promises, I look forward to assessing the report and planning for next year’s events programme. Another idea put forward to Council was to assess if there is a need for more cafés in our local government area. A report will be presented to Council to investigate the facilities and public spaces that would be suitable. I always find enjoyment in connecting with and meeting members of our community. Just this week, I had the pleasure of meeting with the President and the new General Manager of the Strathfield Golf Club. This not-for-profit club is dedicated to creating a welcoming community space for everyone. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit their website to explore the exciting list to events they host. Additionally, I had a wonderful sit down with the women from the Craft and Coffee group in the library. These vibrant and engaging women shared with me that some residents believe they must have a craft to participate in the group. However, it’s important to note that this gathering is not solely about crafting. It’s a place where you can come, enjoy a coffee and a biscuit, and engage in conversations about anything and everything. You don’t need to be skilled in knitting, crocheting or sewing to join, simply come for the enjoyment and friendship. Strathfield Council website has all the details. As always if you require any help or information, please contact the office or email me on cr.kpensabene@strathfield.nsw.gov.au This Saturday is Homebush Vibes! It's gonna be a vibe! Come for the food and fun but stay for the sweet tunes and performances. Homebush Vibes is this Saturday 16 September, 3pm - 9pm at Rochester St, Homebush (near Homebush Station). Approaching Water Street bridge, with half the house, the teamster realised that he might have a problem. Undeterred he pressed on, the house becoming firmly wedged in the middle of the bridge. It took several hours for the house to be freed and the bridge successfully crossed. ‘Meantime the bridge was blocked to traffic. Pedestrians and bus passengers calmly opened the front door of the moving house and regained the bridge from the back door.’ Water Street’s more recent bridge, Strathfield South, 8 September 2023 EVENTS Somewhere in Between When: 31 Aug - 29 Oct Junior Australian Multisport Program When: 25 Oct - 13 Dec DEVELOPMENT NOTIFICATIONS Development Application 56 Pemberton St, Strathfield Demolition of existing dwelling and structures, construction of new two (2) storey dwelling with basement, in-ground swimming pool and front fence.
