Marathon Monday | April 18, 2022 Dear Eagles, The Boston Marathon holds a special place in the history of the City of Boston and Boston College. Located at Mile 21 at the top of Heartbreak Hill, the enthusiasm of the Boston College community has provided inspiration for countless runners over the years. On behalf of a number of campus partners including CAB, UGBC, BC Athletics and Campus Ministry, I am pleased to announce new and exciting programming on Monday, April 18, designed to celebrate Marathon Monday and to bring out the best of our community. We will kick off the day with a Breakfast Bingo event on Maloney Lawn from 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. There will be a free breakfast, a DJ and bingo games featuring big prizes including an iPad, Gold Pass and more. Free Boston College “Mile 21” t-shirts will be distributed starting at 8:00 a.m. and will be available while supplies last. From 12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m., Maloney Lawn will play host to a special Mile 21 Field Day, filled with DJ music, contests, games, food trucks and more. Additional details about these activities are forthcoming. Throughout the day, students are also encouraged to head to the special BC Mile 21 Cheering Section along Commonwealth Avenue to cheer on the Marathon runners. In the coming weeks, Boston College social media will be featuring over 20 members of the BC community - Vice President Dr. Shawna Cooper-Gibson, OSI’s Matt Razek, and UGBC President Jack Bracher to name a few - who are training for the 2022 Boston Marathon. Finally, we invite students to experience the Patriot’s Day tradition of attending a Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park at a deeply discounted price. A game ticket for the Boston Red Sox versus the Minnesota Twins including bus transportation will be $5 and buses will leave campus at 10:00 a.m. for the 11:10 a.m. start. Please stay tuned to your email and check out the special BC Mile 21 website for event and ticketing details as they become available. We look forward to celebrating this special day in a few short weeks. Sincerely, Tom Mogan Boston College, Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs |
