This email is being sent to all faculty and academic advisors.

We are one week away from our first registration in Workday!

Please review the reminders and updates below, as well as this email we sent Monday to students, which includes updates on common student issues we've recently resolved, including problems with saved schedules and course section overrides, as well as incorrect registration appointment times.

Advising registration holds

Remove students' advising holds, formerly known as electronic registration authorization, or ERA, as required by your school or department.

  • To see which of your advisees still has holds, use report SRPT0003 – Find Students with Holds, accessible via search or your Advisor Dashboard.
  • In the report prompt, enter your Student Cohorts to filter the results on your advisees. Your advising cohorts are listed on your Advisor Dashboard and report SRPT0131 – Find Student Cohorts.
  • Consider saving your filter for future use, especially if you have more than one cohort so you won't have to type them in each time you view the report.

FAQ: Why can't I remove my advisee’s hold?

  • Make sure you're selecting the correct hold based on your advising role. For example, if you are a faculty advisor, be sure to select the Faculty Advisor Hold, which may be listed after/under a student’s Academic Advisor Hold.

Missing or incorrect advisees?

  • Someone in your school or department can help! Go to the relevant cohort’s Support Roles tab and contact the Advising Cohort Manager (Arts & Sciences) or Advising Cohort Collections Manager listed; see tutorial for screenshot.
    • For example, if a student is missing from your Spanish Second Majors cohort, go to that cohort's Support Roles tab to see who can add students.
  • You do not need to submit a help ticket for this type of request. Doing so will slow down the resolution process since we will need to re-route your ticket to the appropriate individuals.

Expected completion dates

In our last email to advisors, we asked you to double check your advisees’ expected completion dates and update them, if needed, due to the way Workday calculates these dates compared to our legacy systems. We asked you to do this now since we knew you’d be meeting with students and reviewing their records as part of registration planning, and that students may ask questions about this date.

To clarify, these dates do not affect students’ registration appointments. Registration appointments are based on a student’s matriculation date–when they started at WashU–with adjustments made for transfer students.

We’ll share more information on what this date impacts after we get through our first registration in Workday.
