A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to the inaugural bi-monthly IIT newsletter. We aim to periodically update our stakeholders on recent Institute activities and outputs, as well as programmes we are running. Please let us know what you would like to see and how often.

In this edition, we review the US-China Phase 1 deal and preview Vietnam’s chairmanship of ASEAN. You will find the link to a forthcoming event we are organizing on the EU-Australia FTA, in partnership with the Australian Institute of International Affairs.

We also feature Institute staff activities, notably my involvement in the Saudi Arabia-led Think 20, and Simon Lacey’s Al Jazeera interview on the United Kingdom's decision to admit Huawei as a 5G vendor. We end with information on training and academic programmes we are running.
