Let creativity take flight in this year’s World Environment Day Poster Competition

Spark your child’s creativity with the annual World Environment Day Poster Competition!
The competition is now open to all Logan primary school students, with entries closing on Wednesday 25 March. The 2026 theme, “The Wings Along our Waterways”, invites students to explore our city’s birdlife and the vital roles these species play along our creeks, rivers and wetlands.

Winning artworks will be showcased in next year’s calendar and celebrated with the community at the Logan Eco Action Festival. Entries are submitted via schools. If you would like a copy of the teacher information pack and forms send us an email at environment@logan.qld.gov.au

The EnviroGrants program provides funding to individuals, community groups, businesses and organisations to undertake initiatives that protect and enhance our natural environment, and foster sustainability actions across the City of Logan.

The 2026 Grow It Local Awards are officially open and it’s time to show Australia what’s growing in Logan! Celebrate creativity, colour and the joy of homegrown food by entering one of six fun categories.

With judging by gardening icons like Costa Georgiadis and Paul West, plus epic prize packs up for grabs, now’s your chance to shine. Get snapping and enter your photos on social media before 15 February!

Have your say on koala conservation

Queenslanders are invited to help shape the new South East Queensland Koala Conservation Strategy 2026–2036. The discussion paper outlines four focus areas to guide a common‑sense, balanced approach to protecting this iconic species.

Community feedback is open until 5pm, 15 March. Share your thoughts online, via email, or at a local engagement session - including the Logan session at Yarrabilba on 25 February.

THE NATION'S LARGEST COMMUNITY-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL EVENT

Since 1990, more than 23 million Australians have rolled up their sleeves to help protect and restore our environment - and now it’s Logan’s turn! We’re calling on schools, businesses, community groups and locals to get outdoors and make a real impact this Clean Up Australia Day.

Getting involved is easy:
    1. Pick your spot – join an existing clean‑up or register your own.
    2. Rally your crew and spread the word.
    3. Head out on Clean Up Australia Day and collect litter in your chosen area.
    
Registered sites receive a free Clean Up kit, and all waste from registered locations can be disposed of free of charge at our waste and recycling facilities.

FREE TREES

Property owners in Logan can take advantage of our Free Trees program. Bring a copy of your current rates notice to one of the collection locations and choose from a wide range of plants. Each financial year you can take 3 plants home for your garden.​
