Is offshore fumigation prior to importing into NZ due to BMSB required? Answer Wine barrels are not target BMSB risk goods. They do not require treatment for BMSB as they’re not VMP (Vehicles machinery and Parts) cargo. However barrels must meet the requirements under the import health standard Woodware from all countries https://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/dmsdocument/1221-woodware-from-all-countries-import-health-standard Topic 2 – Cargo that requires fumigation in ItalyExample We are shipping a container of Pumps and Spare Parts from Italy. The new parts were stored indoors. Do we need to fumigate this? Answer: Your goods from Italy will need to be treated offshore. This is a requirement under the SEACO standard. All cargo, unless covered by sensitive cargo list, or has an approved system, must be fumigated offshore. This is because Italy is a very high risk BMSB country.
