As volunteer surf lifesavers raise the flags on a new patrol season, a report on coastal drowning deaths shows a worrying increase in fatalities during 2017/18.

Summer came early to the iconic Manly beach today as the red and yellow flags  outside North Steyne SLSC signalled the return of volunteer surf lifesavers for the 2018/19 Patrol Season.

Out of the tragedy of the drowning of a young father in January, a family has donated vital rescue and first aid equipment to a small Illawarra surf club in the hope that lives can be saved in the future.

The program aims to increase the availability, standard and quality of SLSC for the benefit of their members and the wider community.

NSW ClubGRANTS Cat 3 Infrastructure Fund  2018/19 October Round

Applications close 22 October 2018. Funding is available towards the costs of construction, alteration, renovation, fitout of infrastructure and purchase of mobile infrastructure.

AIDR Emergency Management Volunteer Scholarships

Applications close 15 October 2018. This scholarship fund has been established to recognise the complex services delivered by volunteers and the high-level skills and leadership required for emergency situations.

BRP Equipment Fund Grant

Applications close 2 November 2018. Opening 1 October 2018, this grant includes a total of $360K + GST worth of equipment on offer for surf clubs. SLSC and services seeking equipment from the grant are encourage to submit an application as soon as possible
