Running & Raising for the Trail

What started as a group of friends participating in an open-course trail race around the Bay Area turned into a passion for the Ridge Trail and a wish to do more. 2,600 Mile Trail Blueprint

The Ridge Trail is a proud member of the Bay Area Trails Collaborative (BATC), a 50+ member group working to create a 2,600-mile network of trails in Bay Area, and earlier this month, the San Francisco Chronicle featured BATC on the front page! Happy Women's History Month!

Since the beginning, the Ridge Trail has been planned, built, maintained, supported, and led by women who share a passion for the outdoors and access to them. Almost half of the Ridge Trail Board of Directors are women, and Janet McBride (below) leads as Ridge Trail Executive Director.

Two amazing women even wrote the official Ridge Trail Guidebook! We appreciate and thank these wonderful women for all they have done — and continue to do — to turn the Ridge Trail vision into a reality.
