Middle School Newsletter

To our Middle School Community,

Welcome back to the second last week of the half term - already! Apologies to all families who planned to come to our movie night - due to the cold snap we thought it would be safer to reschedule to this Friday, 8th February. We hope to see a lot of you there!

Please keep checking the dates below and make notes of these as they update as events are finalised.

Conduct outside of the school
We've had reports of students at the shops before and after school . Please ensure you are clear with your child about expectations and safety when travelling to and from school. We will contact parents if children are reported to be demonstrating inappropriate conduct and advise shop owners to contact the police if they have ongoing concerns. Thank you for your support on this matter.

January Above and Beyond Out and About

Congratulations to the Middle School students who were selected by their coaches last month as true models of our 3 Commitments; they consistently go above and beyond to step up, choose kind and work in the zone. They gave Ms Kyrk some 'Keep, Lose and Introduce' feedback about the Middle School and enjoyed their hot chocolate on an especially frosty day! It was a pleasure to chat with Oliwia, Calla, Rehan, Dante, Isabella, Sahmara, Julian, Isabel, Amalia, Amina and Alishamay. Can't wait for next month!

Year 6 Heart Surgeons

As part of their current science topic, last week Year 6 tried their hand at heart dissections! They investigated the valves and how blood travels around the different ventricles. It was not a lesson for the squeamish! Well done to all of our scientists and a big thank you to Ms Rogerson and Mr Spalding-Mackintosh for coming in to help with the lesson!

Year 8 Dancing up a storm!

Half of the Year 8 cohort are working on a dance project with Ms Jenkins and Ms Hansen this term. They have been critiquing dance videos and learning sequences of their own in preparation for performances they will put on later in the term.

Our next Family Film Night...

We will be holding our next Family Film Night THIS Friday, 8th February from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. This time around we will be watching The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith and his son Jayden. We ask for a £1 donation for everyone who wishes to attend which includes popcorn and squash! Bring along a pillow and snuggle up to watch this uplifting film with us! (Rated 12+ - by sending your child you give permission for them to watch) More information on the film is available here: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/movie-reviews/the-pursuit-of-happyness

Recognition last week

Last week saw our recognition board full of names! Well done to all the students who have gone above and beyond upholding our 3 Commitments for Choosing Kind, Stepping Up and being In the Zone.

This Week's Lunch Menu is Week 2!
