Poets Gather to Celebrate TAB's 10th Anniversary MilestoneTabula Poetica, the Center for Poetry at Chapman University, has made a name for itself hosting more than 50 poets over the last ten years and launching TAB: The Journal of Poetry & Poetics. In December, the Poetry Center celebrated a milestone anniversary, turning 10 years old. The Center for Creative and Cultural Industries Celebrate Grand OpeningWilkinson College’s Creative and Cultural Industries (CCI) program has a space to officially call "home." The CCI program, launched in Fall 2015, recently celebrated the grand opening of its center, located at 428 N. Glassell Street. Wilkinson and The Catalina Island Museum Launch Innovative Partnership A new partnership with The Catalina Island Museum will provide exciting new opportunities for students to research the island’s history, design exhibitions and visitor materials, and craft a marketing and publicity plan for the museum. Wilkinson Students Share Conference ExperiencesWilkinson College sends students to different professional conferences around the country throughout their time at Chapman. Most recently, Graphic Design students attended Adobe MAX 2019 and Political Science students attended the Hawaii University International Conference. Investigating Careers Back Home in the Aloha StateOver the January Interterm, Wilkinson College Career Advisor Erin Berthon organized excursions for Wilkinson students from Hawaii to explore career opportunities in the arts, humanities, and social sciences on the islands. Employers were excited to meet students and discuss using the education they receive at Chapman to better Hawaii. Saving Endangered Indigenous LanguagesKeeping indigenous languages alive and encouraging young people to continue speaking their native languages are the challenges at the center of Dr. Pilar Valezuela's research. A professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, Dr. Valenzuela recently traveled to the Peruvian Amazon and spoke about her research during Intercultural Bilingual Education Week at the Indigenous University Nopoki.
