21 May 2026

Dear Residents,

Thank you to everyone who joined us last Saturday at Homebush Vibes! it was a fantastic day full of family fun, lively performances, dancing and local eats. Thank you again to Community Bank Homebush and North Ryde (part of Bendigo Bank) for sponsoring the kids face painting – always a hit with our youngest residents!

There is still plenty more ahead for Homebush with Meet the Mayor events on Saturday 23 May and the Homebush Village Markets back on Saturday 6 June. More details on both events are below, and you can find out what else is planned on the events calendar on the website.

This week is National Volunteer Week, and I would like to acknowledge all the wonderful volunteers in our community! Every day there are dedicated people across the Strathfield community who volunteer their time for a number of causes, each rooted in a deep sense of compassion and giving. We’re so lucky to have them as neighbours and friends, and I thank each and every one of them.

Finally, I’m excited to let you know Begnell Field is open again after extensive drainage works! This time last year the field looked more like a pond than a footy field. But after months of work, the field is a premier sporting facility, and just in time for the winter season! Thank you to the Civil Works staff at Council for doing such a great job. You can check out other projects on the Council website.

If you need to contact me or have any questions, please do so by emailing me cr.bcai@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or ring our office on 9748 9999.

Cr Benjamin Cai, Mayor of Strathfield

National Road Safety Week

It is National Road Safety Week – a week that puts a much-needed spotlight on road safety.

With around 1,350 lives lost on Australian roads each year, let’s use this week as a reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility.

As a long-term member of the Local Government Road Safety Program (LG RSP), Strathfield Council is proud to be a strong advocate of road safety awareness.
