Click here 8 February 2024Cr Karen Pensabene, Mayor of Strathfield Dear Strathfield residents, Now that everyone has settled into the typical back to school and back to work routine that February brings, we are particularly thrilled to be in the planning stages for the upcoming year in Strathfield. A notable change after many years is the shift of our Ordinary Council Meeting to the 4th Tuesday of each month, as opposed to the 1st Tuesday. This adjustment aims to assist our council officers in preparing more detailed and up to date account of Council’s planning and financial status. You can attend these meetings in the newly renovated Council Chambers or watch the live stream on our website at www.strathfieldcouncil.nsw.gov.au/livestream This week, we had our initial meeting with the heads of NSW Department of Planning, and I’m pleased to share that they will collaborate with Council during the preparation of the Masterplan for Homebush. The department emphasises the importance of community feedback in ensuring sustainable plans and well-planned infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing community. We, at Council, are looking forward to this collaboration and will continue to encourage the NSW government to work with all stakeholders to create a place that we can all be proud of. Our Police community engagement team set up pop-up stalls in Strathfield this week, offering crime protection advice and information to our residents. They received positive feedback, and a “Coffee with a Cop” event is scheduled during the school holidays on April 17 outside Deli Fresh Café, Homebush from 10 am to 12pm. If you haven’t had a chance to visit our Library and see the Cooks River Exhibition, please try to see it. The exhibition concludes this Sunday, and it provides a journey through the Rivers’ rich history, culminating in recent projects that protect and conserve the River and its biodiversity. Council, as the custodian of the Cooks River in our LGA, collaborates with other organisations to enhance the health and liveability of communities within its catchment. Upcoming events for this weekend include: Saturday 10th February – Free Movies in the Park this week ‘s movie is Crazy Rich Asians. Pack a picnic and enjoy the summer evening. When it is dark enough (around 7.30) the movie will begin. Sunday 11th February – Lunar New Year Dragon Festival 10.00am Henly Road Homebush West.
