The monthly E-News shares provincial program information and updates about the Facility Engagement (FE) Initiative. This information will be of interest to Medical Staff Association (MSA) support teams, so please feel free to forward the newsletter to your MSA executives as needed. 

FE Financial Reporting Deadline

ACTION: Next financial reporting deadline: July 31, 2022.

MSA physician societies are required to reconcile their financials quarterly at minimum to ensure accurate financial reporting and budgeting. This also ensures that the FE program has accurate information on program spending. 

Physician societies only are requested to provide the following documents within 30 days of the end of each quarter.

• Balance sheet.
• Income statement from your accounting software*.  

*If you are using QuickBooks, the external financial system report is called the Profit and Loss Report and for Sage users it is called the Balanced Income Statement.

• Please send the above documents to engagement@doctorsofbc.ca no later than July 31, 2022.
• For additional reconciliation support, please refer to the Facility Engagement website.

Facility Engagement Funding Guidelines: Update

Facility & Community Engagement has released the latest updates to FE funding guidelines. Please review this document for a detailed description of changes and additions.

The following sections have been updated:

• Continuing Professional Development (previously Training)
• Social Events (previously Events)
• Eligible Expenses

The following sections have been added to the guidelines:

• Electronic Health Record (EHR) Training
• Indigenous Engagement

Updated funding guidelines will be made available on Facility Engagement website under MSA Tools & Resources.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

BC doctors are a diverse group comprised of different genders, racial backgrounds, religious affiliations, sexual orientations, ages, specialties, practice locations, and more.

As physicians, our members also serve a patient population that is equally as diverse in their backgrounds and in their health care needs. As such, Doctors of BC has been undertaking work to ensure that our governance bodies are representative and inclusive of the diversity of our members. We also strive to support our members in contributing to efforts to ensure that the health care system in British Columbia is culturally safe, equitable, and inclusive for both the providers who work in it and the patients who are served by it.

New network launching to support physician wellbeing services in BC

The Physician Health Program (PHP) is launching a provincial Physician Wellness Network (PWN) for non-profit organizations responsible for physician health or who provide physician wellness and support services.

Doctors of BC encourages MSA support teams and executives to share this information with their respective groups, to ensure our members who would like to express their interest have the information they need.

Members can read more about the training and register their interest on the Doctors of BC website.

PM Helpdesk Lunch and Learn Library

The FE provincial office, in conjunction with the PM Helpdesk Consultant, Erica Kjekstad, have created a library document of all of the past lunch and learn sessions from 2021.

The 2022 library document is now live and will continue to be updated each month with current information.  The June 2022 session on Provincial Knowledge Sharing, as well as Advanced Site Administration is included.
