Earlier this year, I was honoured to be selected by the Strathfield Council panel as the 2026 Young Citizen of the Year, with the award presented at the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Strathfield Town Hall. It was a really special moment to celebrate alongside many inspiring members of our community, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue working with Strathfield Council and sharing some of the things I’ve been involved in. School has been keeping me really busy lately as we are halfway through our HSC content. There is so much to learn and stay on top of, so most of my time is spent studying or doing homework. But even with all the schoolwork, I have still been trying to make time for other important things. Alongside the other Prefects at Homebush Boys High School, we have been working on a few projects to help people in our community. One thing we did was write cards for elderly people living in aged care homes. We wanted to brighten their day and let them know someone is thinking of them, so we wrote kind messages and delivered the cards to the homes. We also started a Christmas Appeal at our school called “Make it Merry. Make it Matter.” The idea is to raise money so we can buy gifts for children who will be in the hospital during Christmas. It can be really difficult for them to be away from home at that time of year, so we hope the gifts will help bring them a little joy. It has been a busy time balancing study with everything else, but it feels good to give back and make a small difference in the community EVENTS Author Talk - Fleur McDonald Battle of Kapyong Memorial Service 2026 Strathfield Community Garden DEVELOPMENT APPLICATIONS Development Application Development Application Development Application |
