Play. Move. Explore.

Get your service involved in Physical Literacy Week 2026!

2–8 November 2026

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) services across Western Australia are invited to get involved in Physical Literacy Week 2026, a free national initiative celebrating movement and active play.

Through fun, simple activities, children will have opportunities to build movement skills, grow confidence to try new things, develop social and emotional skills, and discover different ways to move and play.

Led by KIDDO at The University of Western Australia, Physical Literacy Week provides free, ready-to-use resources for all ECEC services, schools, playgroups and families. You don't need to be a KIDDO member to participate!

“Seeing the children's confidence to participate build as they revisit experiences. Our educators are more confident to use the supportive language cue cards provided.”

— Educator from a long day care service, Physical Literacy Week 2025

What's available for ECEC services?

  • Daily Play. Move. Explore. challenges – fun activities designed for babies and toddlers (0–2 years) and children aged 2–5 years.
  • Practical educator resources – activity instructions, movement skill information and tips to support children's development.
  • Play at Home challenges – matching activities to share with families and extend the fun at home.
  • Free educator webinar – practical physical literacy and active play strategies on 28 October.
  • Fantastic prizes – including equipment kits and pop-up play sessions at your service.

Getting involved is easy! Activities require minimal equipment and can be incorporated into existing routines. Try one challenge each day, involve different age groups and encourage families to join in at home.

Register your service for free to access the activities, resources and everything you need to participate.
