Five Priority Action Groups - off and running

Kayenat Ali - Priority Action Group participant

"I am engaging with the GameChange program to contribute my part by sharing my skills, experience and passion for collaborating to shape a better skills and jobs network within the focused areas."

- Kayenat Ali, 'Communication & Collaboration' Priority Action Group member

With the Priority Actions decided collectively by all sectors of the community in July, the Five Priority Action Groups (PAGs) have now all met at least twice, with further collaborative discussions planned at least monthly. PAG members, including those with lived experience, meet to discuss issues, workshop ideas and plan ways to test possible solutions, so we can learn as a community and advocate for lasting, positive change in our jobs and employment sector.

Resources and funding are available to the PAGs to test some of their ideas - watch this space.

Collaboration

Australian federal, state and local governments have all recently published plans recognising that for positive changes in the employment sector to have real impact, communication and collaboration with all stakeholders, must be an imperative - a principle also underpinning GameChange.

Recruiting differently

It can be hard finding the headspace and physical time to change the way you do things. At two recent events in our region, employers did exactly that, by undertaking a different employment process than normal, which led to spectacular results.

Support for business - employing mature-aged workers

An online hub has been developed to support employers with existing; or who are looking to employ mature-aged staff. This resource can make it easier to promote jobs, assess your workplace, apply for relevant subsidies and ensure a good experience for both employer and employee.

Free assessment of overseas-qualifications

It's hard to find work in your given profession if your overseas education isn't clearly recognised in Australia. This state government resource may be useful, translations also available.

Capability Building

GameChange is co-developing two courses designed to build capacity and confidence for participation in community-led initiatives and engagement groups.

The programs provide a unique opportunity for participants to engage in a diverse group where a range of learning and capacity building frameworks including adaptive leadership, adult development and positive psychology will be used to empower participants.

What is GameChange?

Building on Council's successful work within the employment landscape, SEBN's GameChange was designed to be a community-led program.

Supported by Greater Dandenong City Council and the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, we engage employers, job seekers, service providers and training organisations to better work together and shape a healthier, more effective jobs and skills system.
