New Aged Care Act updates, Free training opportunities 

New Aged Care Act consultation period extended

Many people have asked for more time to review the draft Act and provide feedback on this important change to aged care. In response, the Department of Health and Aged care  has extended the consultation period to Friday 8th March

The new Act will impact everyone connected to aged care so it’s important that you get involved and have your say. You can: 

• complete a feedback survey online or by calling 1800 318 209 
• attend an online workshop
• send a written submission by email or post.

Support at Home Q & A for Service Providers

The Q&A session will take place on Thursday 22 February 2024 from 1.00pm to 2.30pm (AEDT).

The Q&A session will be hosted by Nick Morgan, Assistant Secretary of Support at Home Reform Branch.

You have the option to submit questions before or during the session.

If you cannot attend, you can register and be notified when a recording will be ready.

Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards guidance consultation

This consultation invites your feedback on our draft guidance resources for providers and workers on the new strengthened Quality Standards.

The consultation closes at midday AEST on 30 April 2024. 

The Aged Care and Quality and Safety Commision are consulting on draft guidance resources to help providers, aged care workers and other stakeholders to understand the new strengthened Quality Standards and their roles and responsibilities in meeting them. Further draft resources will be available shortly that are specifically for older people receiving care and their representatives.

Along with the new Aged Care Act, the strengthened Quality Standards are expected to be introduced from 1 July 2024.

Strategies to retain your workforce & volunteers

Wednesday 20 March 2024, Atura Hotel Dandenong

This face to face workshop, facilitated by Enkindle, will focus on strategies to support providers on how they can better engage and retain their workforce, including volunteers.

Understanding the important link between employee/ volunteer experience and retention, the role of leaders and managers in supporting their workforce and the importance of a culture that is inclusive and supports workers to develop and grow.

This will include practical activities to improve retention such as employee listening, employee training and development and supervision and support.

We will include:
• A detailed supervision and support checklist
• A copy of the presentation slide deck

How to develop a Client Experience Journey

With the introduction of the new Aged Care Act, the Support at Home program, and the opening of aged care registrations, CHSP organisations will need to ensure their brand and their client experience are important strategic focuses.

A client experience journey map is all about understanding the pain points and moments that matter from your client's point of view, and it's then about taking what we learn to improve the client experience, find efficiencies, avoid duplication, and innovate.

In this face-to-face workshop, facilitated by Enkindle, we will work through the practical steps involved in developing a Client experience journey map for CHSP providers.

What we will cover in the workshop:

• Why is a client's experience important in the new world of home care?
• What is a client experience journey map, and how can it help?
• What are the steps we need to take to undertake a client experience journey map?
• What are the tools we need to develop a client experience journey map?
