Walter Stewart Findlay (Fr 1956)The Principal, Council and St Andrew’s College community honour the life of Dr Walter Stewart Findlay (Fr 1956) who passed away on 27th April 2021. Walter arrived at St Andrew’s College in the summer of 1956, after attending school at Scots All Saints College, Bathurst. He resided at St Andrew's until 1960 whilst studying medicine at the University of Sydney. He completed his residency at the Royal Newcastle Hospital and practiced as a specialist Obstetrician Gynaecologist at Penrith until only a few years ago. Walter married Mary and the pair had 4 children together and 7 grandchildren. During his time at College he made many friends, a number of whom continued into life-long friendships. Walter remained connected to College and regularly attended the SACAS Annual Golf Day and Dinner events. Close friends of Walter, Denis Gordon (Fr 1954) and Robin Gordon have shared with the College the photo below and text about Walter from the 1961 'Senior Year Book' which was published for each graduating class as they completed their medical undergraduate studies. The Findlay family are held strongly in our thoughts and our dearest sympathy is extended to all who knew him. |
