Gippsland Circular Economy on a Roll
The Hub is here! With a mission to foster a sustainable and thriving regional economy, community and environment in Gippsland, the Gippsland Circular Economy Hub (GCEH) will bring together businesses, industry, community groups, government, research and education to collaborate on identifying and actioning circular economy projects and initiatives. Why go circular?
Transitioning to a circular economy is a priority for Victoria; a systemic change away from the traditional linear economy of consume, dispose, pollute. A circular model has reuse, repair, recycle and repurpose designed into systems, supply chains and products to ensure resources are used again and again. This minimises the use of raw materials, reduces waste, lowers carbon emissions, and benefits economic growth.
International Women's Day 2024
Gippsland shone with many events and activities acknowledging, commemorating, and celebrating International Women's Day.
People came together to reflect, discuss, champion and progress equality, inclusivity, opportunity, accessibility, respect, fairness, and achievement.
'Women's economic empowerment is central to a gender equal world. When women are given equal opportunities to learn, earn and lead – entire communities thrive.'

Gina ChickConnected to self, others and the environment - International Women's Day
Speaking of International Women’s Day, some of the LVA team were fortunate enough to attend a captivating presentation by Gina Chick, kindly put on by the amazing team at Latrobe Regional Health. Gina won the first series of ‘Alone Australia’ – a reality survival challenge where she lasted 67 days in the Tasmanian wilderness, fending for herself. But this woman is so much more than a reality show contestant. She is an author, a dancer, a renowned rewilding facilitator….an inspiration. Pictured LVA staff

Spotlight on Intersectional StigmaBreaking stigma for breakfast: Latrobe Valley Youth serve up a powerful message
The March Innovation Breakfast saw the Morwell Innovation Centre full to the brim as participants soaked up the wise insights of young people and experts in the field of stigma. The advocacy and education workshop was co-designed and presented by Leanne from the Satellite Foundation, mental health researcher Rochelle Hine and three amazing humans from the Latrobe Valley, Jess, Harley and KC. What an event! The workshop was based on “StigmaBeat”, a series of films created by young people that aim to create positive social change to end the stigma that is often associated with mental ill health.
