The ‘phasing in period’ is coming to an end.

On 1 February 2023 the NDIS Check ‘phasing in period’ in WA comes to an end. This means that all workers in risk assessed roles for registered NDIS providers must apply for and hold a valid NDIS Check clearance.

Take the ‘Are You NDIS Check Ready?’ survey to assess your organisations preparedness for the end of phasing in arrangements.

Supporting regional providers

In August, the NDIS Worker Screening Unit’s Compliance Team travelled to our state’s South West region to undertake compliance and engagement activities with registered NDIS providers in the area. Travelling through Ravensthorpe, Pinjarra, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Manjimup and Albany, the team engaged with 17 NDIS providers and verified 146 individuals’ compliance with NDIS worker screening requirements.

Thank you to all those who met with us as we work together to build a safer NDIS workforce.

Up next, the Compliance Team are heading to the Goldfields.

In November 2022, Compliance Officers will be in Kalgoorlie engaging with providers and individuals to help achieve greater compliance with legislated worker screening requirements.

Compliance

As the regulatory authority for individuals’ NDIS Checks in WA, the NDIS Worker Screening Unit undertakes reviews of registered NDIS providers to ensure workers are meeting their NDIS Check obligations.

Your organisation may receive a request to partake in a compliance review. During a review, our officers will work with you to help ensure your workers are compliant with NDIS Check requirements.

If you are a registered NDIS provider, you can ensure you are prepared for a compliance review by:

  • Ensuring all workers in risk assessed roles, including volunteers and contractors, hold a valid NDIS Check clearance.
  • Maintaining records of your workers’ NDIS Check outcomes and personal details.
  • Linking your workers to your organisation in the NDIS Worker Screening Database.
