We hope you had a restful winter break and are feeling refreshed and ready for an exciting year ahead. This year there a lots of exciting opportunities in the pipeline. You can expect from us to facilitate more accessible learning, profound inspiration and limitless creativity for our students and staff. Read on to discover the latest news, events and updates this Spring. ![]() Tutor meetup![]() Dear Onsite Short Course Tutors, After the success of the pre summer school tutor briefings we are planning to make this a twice-yearly event with another event in February. When: 12 February 2025 at 5:30pm – 6.30 pm with drinks afterwards Where: This event will be at Central Saint Martins in Room D119 We will try out a hybrid meeting model, so joining online will be possible. Please contact your coordinator for the Microsoft Teams link. As well as an overview of short courses; we will have tutors speaking about their experience of using Padlet and working with learners with low English skills and additional needs, offering their insight and top tips. This is a great opportunity to meet other short course tutors and staff, so please join us! ![]() Useful resources![]() Did you know that the UAL showcase is now linked on the UALSC Tutor hub? The UAL Showcase page provides images of work and links to further info about UAL graduates. It is an excellent resource for artist reference, research examples or just imagery for your classes and is fully searchable by course, learner or subject, or just browse the curated collections. You can find this document in our Tutor Hub on the 'Teaching Resources' webpage under University Wide Resources. ![]() Differences between Undergraduate and Short Courses Teaching![]() If you are new to teaching short courses but have previously taught on BA or MA courses at UAL you will benefit from reading the Undergraduate vs Short Courses Teaching guide. This guide identifies the key differences between accredited and unaccredited courses, year long and short courses teaching, plus offers advice on how to make changes to your delivery. The new updates will support tutors in making teaching more efficient and effective. We have outlined in a pdf summary, how these improvements will benefit short course students and staff.
