Enhancements:

  • Access to Provincial Attachment System User Guides: Attachment Coordinators now have direct access to comprehensive user guides for the Provincial Attachment System (PAS), streamlining the onboarding and operational processes.
  • Provider Panel Capacity Updates: Attachment Coordinators are now able to update the Panel Capacity for Care Providers, ensuring accurate management of patient assignments.
  • Patient Panel Transfer Requests: Providers can now initiate patient transfers from one Provider’s panel to another within PAS, facilitating smoother patient management and care continuity.
  • No More Roadblocks: A Workshop to Help You Navigate the System!

Island Health’s Community Virtual Care

Island Health’s Community Virtual Care (CVC) program provides support to individuals with a diverse range of medical conditions, including acute illness. The CVC Fall Campaign is currently underway to promote support programs for patients experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19, Influenza, and RSV. With this in mind, we are reaching out to community partners to share this information widely.

New Nuchal Translucency Obstetrical Ultrasound Service at NRGH

We have an important announcement regarding Nuchal Translucency (NT) obstetrical ultrasound examinations now being available at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital for eligible pregnant patients.

Effective immediately, Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is offering Nuchal Translucency (NT) ultrasound as part of integrated prenatal genetic screening (IPS) for eligible pregnant patients.

Eligibility criteria for NT ultrasound as part of IPS:

  • 35 years and older (at EDD);
  • multiple gestations, regardless of maternal age; or
  • pregnant patients who have conceived via IVF with ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection)

Request for Physician Feedback

The Doctors Technology Office (DTO) has announced its next EMR Skill Building Sessions scheduled for November/December. These sessions are designed to help physician and practice team members expand their expertise in using their Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

During the session we will cover some EMR workflow enhancements, template setup, and things you can do to reduce clicks. Panel Management for Family Practice program

The FPSC is now accepting applications for medical office staff to take the Panel Management for Family Practice program through the University of Fraser Valley. The program consists of five modules with a final quality improvement project implemented in-practice. The course offers practical, skills-based training designed to meet the competencies of a panel manager, including basics of the patient medical home and primary care network, empanelment, registry-based care, and proactive and preventative care.

Opportunity available from the JCCs: Health Quality BC’s Quality Forum

Health Quality BC’s Quality Forum is an annual conference that brings together British Columbia’s health care community to share and discuss how to improve quality across the continuum of care, as well as learn new skills and strategies, discuss opportunities and challenges, and network with others interested in improving health care.

Registration for this year’s event is slated to open November 20th, and funding will be provided by the Joint Collaborative Committees to cover registration and travel expenses for up to 200 practicing physician members to attend the main days of the Forum, March 12 and 13. As part of ongoing member engagement, Doctors of BC is seeking input to inform the development of its policy position on AI in health care. Direct feedback will guide advocacy work and help shape the services and supports provided to physicians on AI.
