Junior School NoticesTerm 2 Week 7
Dear valued member of the PLC community, I hope all our Junior School families found time to rest and relax over the four-day long weekend. It was certainly wonderful to see so many refreshed faces back in the Junior School on Tuesday morning. I believe the Monday of the long weekend was our wettest June day in 37 years.
Health and WellbeingWith the snap of cold weather and some children presenting with colds, please be mindful to keep your child at home if they are unwell. As per WA Health guidelines, anyone with COVID-19 should stay home for at least five days and until symptoms have resolved, to prevent spreading the illness to others.
Kindy Go GreenIn contributing to the Kindergarten learning about plants and how they sustain life on earth, earlier this term students were given the opportunity to get their hands dirty. Thanks to the generosity of Bunnings, Kindergarten were able to fill four planters and many pots with vegetables, herbs, and leafy greens.
Zooper Dooper DayOn Friday 26 May, we raised $264.80 for the Telethon Kids Institute via our Zooper Dooper Day. Across the day students enjoyed Zooper Doopers at the cost of $2. Thanks to the generosity of the community, all of the funding raised is helping to discover new treatments and ways to improve kids’ health. Thank you to our Service Leaders, Ruby Carlson and Emily Weaver, for organising this initiative.

Junior School Co-Curricular Calendar
When I first came to Western Australia from Melbourne 26 years ago to take up ministry responsibilities in the South West, I met many Noongar people who taught me much about their culture and over the years we have remained great friends. One of the first things I learnt was that there were six seasons in the year, which are not defined dates on a calendar, but in relation to what is actually happening in the natural environment. What we know as June-July is known to traditional Noongar people as “Makuru”, symbolised by a dark blue colour indicating the coldest, wettest time in the South West.
