With the 2023 High-Level Meeting on UHC (HLM on UHC) less than three months away, we call on all countries to deliver on the right to health and ensure UHC becomes a reality for all. Health For All: Keeping the momentum goingThe September 2023 High-Level Meeting on UHC provides countries and all stakeholders an opportunity to reinvigorate progress towards UHC and deliver health for all. Action-oriented outcomes to strengthen health systems are the basis for implementation and accountability, as outlined in the UHC Action Agenda. Now is the time to call on your governments to commit to the highest political level of participation at the HLM on UHC and to assemble a gender-balanced national delegation of key stakeholders. All countries and stakeholders must ensure synergies across the three health-related HLMs (UHC, tuberculosis, and pandemic prevention, preparedness and response) and the SDG Summit. They must also promote coherent, integrated and action-oriented global health agendas. Throughout the summer, keep up your advocacy efforts using our latest social media toolkit and advocacy letter (available in English, French and Spanish). You can also use the Action Agenda and other resources available in multiple languages here. Stay tuned early September for more information on how to engage in our final campaign ahead of the health-related HLMs. Practical information for the UN HLMRegistration will open at the beginning of July. We will publish details and the registration link on our frequently asked questions page and our social media channels as soon as it is available. In the coming weeks, the President of the General Assembly will also publish the programme for the HLM on UHC here. We will also update our UHC HLM event page to include key side events organized during the UN General Assembly high-level week. With millions of lives on the line, the UHC Movement Political Advisory Panel calls on Member States and stakeholders to unite behind health for all and ensure health is on the highest agendas. UHC2030 co-chair Gabriela Cuevas spoke about the importance of UHC to make progress on the SDGs at the SDG Summit’s informal virtual stakeholder consultation on 7 June. The event aimed to collect inputs for the zero draft political declaration on sustainable development, mobilizing about 15,000 participants from 140 countries. UHC2030 also shared inputs with the event’s co-facilitators (Qatar and Ireland) to promote greater alignment among the three health-related HLM’s’ political declarations. The Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) on the WHO pandemic accord convened on 12–16 June. During the meeting, UHC2030 advocated for UHC to be included as a guiding principle. Worryingly, the most recent draft (A/INB/5) refers to universal health coverage as an end goal rather than an effective enabler of pandemic prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
