Dear friend,

Jessica is part of our volunteer crew at Preston's Pantry. She works Friday mornings, receiving the Oregon Food Bank delivery, stocking shelves, and getting things ready for distribution later in the afternoon. Her bubbly personality and positive energy make her a perfect fit for Preston's Pantry.

“I knew I wanted to volunteer as soon as possible, and after moving closer to Portland, found Lift UP online. I started last summer, and worked lots of shifts, but Friday was the best fit. Plus, I get to work with Emmanuel. It's a lot of fun.”

Jessica is passionate about giving back to her community through her work at the pantry. "I grew up accessing food pantries, so I know how important food access is. Getting to know the shoppers is my favorite part of the job, especially when I see families come here. It inspires me to give back to the community!”

Besides her work with Lift UP, Jessica is a full-time research coordinator at OHSU, administering chemotherapy to patients fighting cancer. We are fortunate to have her on our volunteer team, and she is a role model for all of us!

Film Screening: Gather

The film "Gather" is an intimate portrait of the growing movement amongst Native Americans to reclaim their spiritual, political and cultural identities through food sovereignty, while battling the trauma of centuries of genocide.

On Wednesday, November 10, Kinema and Oregon State University are hosting a special viewing of this film. After the film screening, we will host a panel with Dr. Samantha Chisholm Hatfield and Dr. David Lewis discussing Native American resilience, plants, and the renaissance of Native food systems.

Tickets are free, but registration is required. We hope you join us for this special opportunity.

Fall Food and Fund Drive

Fall is officially here, and with it comes the Lift UP Fall Food and Fund Drive! It is the perfect time to partner with Lift UP to raise food and fight hunger!
