What was Strathfield named before it was Strathfield? 2. How old is our Strathfield Town Hall? 3. What year was Strathfield Council incorporated? Answers will be at the bottom of the Newsletter. It has been a busy week for Council with final preparations and activities for the upcoming Strathfield Festival. Visit our website for all the activities you will experience on 27-29 April. I can’t wait to see the artistic projections from local schools lighting up the Strathfield Plaza. This is the first time we have had a festival like this in Strathfield and your presence will make it even better. At the April Council Meeting, all Councillors voted to contact Transport NSW and request that they increase their maintenance on rail infrastructure land. It is appalling that unsightly graffiti and rubbish is left on their land and Council is not able to keep it clean. If Transport NSW do not have a solution to help with this ongoing problem, we are seeking permission for Council to carry out the work. I know how important it is for our residents to keep the area neat and tidy. It was also very pleasing to see the strong community support on display at the April Council Meeting to retain the not-for-profit childcare operators on negotiated terms. There were over 100 residents at the meeting and their voices were heard by all Councillors. All three not-for-profit childcare centres will now negotiate new 5-year agreements with Council. As always, if you require help with Council issues, please contact me on cr.kpensabene@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or my office on 9748 9924.
