As we prepare for another exciting winter season, there’s plenty of news to share with our travel partners. From continued investments in the on-mountain experience and new premium guest services to expanded air connections opening up unique itinerary possibilities, there’s lots to look forward to. In this edition, we’re highlighting what’s new for the season ahead, along with upcoming opportunities to connect with the Tourism Sun Peaks team and our representatives at trade events around the world. An Even Better Winter Starts November 21, 2026 With 4,400 acres to explore, Sun Peaks already delivers an incredible ski experience. Heading into winter 2026/27, continued investment across the mountains is making it even better. Following the successful introduction of Finnish-engineered Snow Secure technology last winter, Sun Peaks has expanded from one snow-storage installation to three. The original installation retained an estimated 80% of its 17,000 m³ of stored snow through the summer, providing an immediate natural snow surface for early-season alpine race training. With each snow-storage pile representing approximately 1.5 million gallons of snowmaking water saved, the expanded program significantly reduces the need to produce new snow for the early season. This winter also marks year three of an approximately $5.5-million, six-year snowmaking improvement plan. New installations extend on Five Mile, while automated fixed-mount tower guns are being deployed in key areas of the mountain, all helping improve snow quality and efficiency. Guests will also benefit from continued terrain improvements, with summer earthworks and trail enhancements completed on Orient, Rambler, Elevation, Lower Chute and Foxes Den, along with refreshed trail signage on Orient and Sundance.
New Air North Service Connects Kamloops & Whitehorse Beginning in May 2027, Air North will introduce a new twice-weekly seasonal service between Vancouver and Kamloops, with convenient one-stop connections to and from Whitehorse. The new route links one of Canada’s largest international gateways with BC’s Interior and the Yukon, creating exciting new possibilities for multi-destination itineraries. For travellers arriving through Vancouver, a trip can now extend into the mountains with a stay at Sun Peaks before continuing north to experience the Yukon. Or, build the journey in reverse, pairing a northern adventure with Sun Peaks and Vancouver on the way south. With Kamloops Airport just 45 minutes from Sun Peaks, the new service creates an exciting connection between three distinctly different Canadian experiences and opens the door for agents to get creative with Western Canada and Yukon itineraries. Flights are now available to book through Air North and participating travel partners. New This Winter: Black Tie Ski Rentals A little extra luxury is coming to Sun Peaks this winter! Black Tie Ski Rentals brings a premium ski and snowboard rental experience directly to guests' accommodation, offering the convenience of personalized, in-room or chalet fittings without ever stepping foot in a rental shop. With equipment delivered right to their door, personalized fittings and convenient collection at the end of their stay, Black Tie transforms the traditional rental process into part of the holiday experience. Available to guests across Sun Peaks, with rental delivery hours from 7:30am to 10pm, this new service adds a touch of luxury and convenience to any ski getaway. Trade rates are also available, making it an exciting new offering for travel agents and tour operators to incorporate into their Sun Peaks packages.
