Success for Southeast Sailboats! Southeast Sailboats was back in action at the recent Masters European championships in Spain, and after too long a break I was finally back on a European championship podium! I finished second overall behind winner Australian multi- world champion Jeff Loosemore, and ahead of Spanish Olympic gold medallist Miguel Noguer. One of rule changes is particularly important and part of it was formally submitted by Southeast Sailboats. The rule change, if approved by members, will enable a more durable fairlead to be fitted, reducing fairlead and rope wear. The current kicker/vang fairlead (shown below) wears quickly, developing a groove which then starts eating into your rope, resulting in short rope life and extra friction. Voting ends in a week, so if you haven’t voted please do! The link to the ILCA website/vote is below. EurILCA Sustainability Programme - World Sailing Awards - last few hours to vote EurILCA’s Sustainability Programme has been shortlisted by World Sailing for their sustainability award. I saw EurILCA's great efforts at the recent Master's Europeans - no plastic mast bands, no single use throw away stickers, no plastic trolley tags, etc... Voting ends in a few hours, so if you haven’t voted please do! The link to the World Sailing Awards voting is below. Allen boom and traveller blocks New from Allen are this range of ILCA Class legal boom and traveller blocks, providing a similar performance alternative to the well know Harken blocks. All but the traveller block feature lightweight Delrin ball bearings, ensuring fast rolling speeds to allow for easy and quick trimming of the mainsheet. Available individually or as a set. Ratchet block boots I use a 40mm Harken ratchet block on my own boat as it reduces the chance of a loop of mainsheet being pulled back through the block. The small spring that we sell to work with it is OK but it doesn’t hold the block up firmly, so I decided to try out the Harken rubber boot instead. Like springs, these are not easy to fit, but this video shows how… Polytech - wider range of colours now available We have been using Polytech for over 3 years and we love the combination of flexibility coupled with durability and grip. We asked Robline if they would increase the number of colours available and Violet/Black and grey/black are now in stock. Available by the metre, as pre-cut secondary line lengths, and of course fitted to our top of the range custom control line systems. Away dates Please note that Southeast Sailboats will be taking a few week-long breaks over the quieter winter period. We will be closed for the following short periods: 18-25 November 12-18 December – Vilamoura Grand Prix, Portugal – battling it out against some of the top ILCA6 sailors who choose Vilamoura as their winter training venue. 1-8 January – Malta EuroMasters – competing against people my own age!! In case you missed it... The most popular recent upgrade has been our hiking strap adjustment system that we released back in late February. Customer feedback has been just amazing. Available as a complete system, or if you already have the CL828-68AN micro clam cleat you can get just the line assembly. Check out our YouTube channel Latest videos on our YouTube channel are instructions on how to fit self-bailer springs, the deck block soft shackles and our traveller wear protectors.
