Old Courthouse Walkway plans approved!

Armidale Regional Council (ARC) has approved concept plans for the upgrade of the Old Courthouse Walkway and Courtyard project that went on public display in December 2024.

The concept plans include re-establishing a critical pedestrian link from Central Mall to Moore Street, improving access to the mall.

Other upgrades to the area will include the incorporation of good landscape design and modern design elements, providing disabled access from the disabled parking spaces in Moore Street to Central Mall, converting the Old Sheriff's Quarters kitchen building for commercial use and multiple opportunities for public art.

A total of 143 submissions were received throughout the exhibition campaign which reflected substantial community interest in the project.
