Funding increase to FPSC on-call availability programs
FPSC provides on-call availability funding through Divisions of Family Practice to support family physicians in working together to provide on-call services for hospital inpatients and long-term care patients.
To align with recent adjustments to Medical On-Call Availability Program (MOCAP) rates in the PMA, FPSC on-call availability funding amounts for inpatient care and long-term care have been increased as follows (effective April 1, 2026):

2026: +5%

2027: +10%
-
2028: +5%
While the FPSC on-call availability funding is not formally tied to MOCAP, the funding increase helps maintain alignment with provincial physician compensation adjustments and supports the ongoing sustainability of the on-call availability programs.
FPSC will reach out to Divisions in the coming weeks with program-specific information outlining how funding adjustments will be applied and any actions required to support implementation.

SWITCH BC: Community Physician Health and Safety Program: How it works
The Community Physician Health and Safety Program (CPHS), led by SWITCH BC, provides resources on workplace occupational health and safety principles for various community clinic types and offers free clinic assessments and virtual consultations to advise and support clinics.
The CPHS program’s scope does not extend to work related to individual clinics’ documentation updates (e.g. emergency management). Divisions of Family Practice that wish to include emergency preparedness resources available through the CPHS program may link to them within their own resource libraries. The CPHS online portal contains resources to support a clinic’s specific needs and enhance any existing documentation. Other resources can be found on the Doctors of BC website.

Reminder: Panel payment transition emails
Between July 2 and 8, panel payment recipients received an email from the Family Practice Services Committee (FPSC) with the subject line: Your Panel Size in PAS & Panel Payment Changes.
The email included a summary of your patient count in the Provincial Attachment System (PAS) as of June 11, 2026, to help you confirm that it accurately reflects your current list of empanelled patients.
ACTION: To ensure your Q3 panel payment (covering the July 1–September 30 payment period) is calculated accurately, please review your PAS record and make sure your list of confirmed patients matches your current list of empanelled patients before October 1, 2026.
If you did not receive an email and are a panel payment recipient, please reach out to the FPSC at fp.billing@doctorsofbc.ca.

Eligibility expanded for Maternity Care for BC (MC4BC) program
Maternity Care for BC (MC4BC) is a 12-month self-directed learning and development program designed for family physicians at any stage in their career who want to provide pregnancy and newborn care.
What’s new
Physicians participating in MC4BC are no longer required to provide pregnancy and newborn care in both facility and clinic settings. The program is now available to physicians who want to provide only clinic-based pregnancy and newborn care. Participants may access up to 70 hours of MC4BC training on clinic-based pregnancy and newborn care, and do not need to complete it in a facility.
The FPSC provides MC4BC participants with a stipend while they complete their training. A travel stipend is also provided for participants travelling outside of their home community to complete training.

FPSC learning and development: Protecting Patient Information: fall 2026 cohort – Register by August 17
The Family Practice Services Committee (FPSC) has partnered with the University of the Fraser Valley to offer medical office assistants (MOAs) the Protecting Patient Information course.

The course is delivered in small group sessions and will take place virtually

FPSC will cover the costs for MOAs to attend this course.

MOAs can expect to build their understanding of how to protect patient information and identify areas for improvement in their clinic.
There are 2 registration options:

Cohort 1: Tuesdays from September 29- December 8 (6:30–8:30 pm)

New MSP-funded youth group therapy program
Dr. Vivian WL Tsang is a psychiatrist in Vancouver partnering with a Canadian Charity to launch a new free youth group therapy program - HOPE for Healing. This is an 8 week resilience based group therapy program co-facilitated by a psychiatrist, therapist, and youth peer.
Dr. Tsang is also opening up a small outpatient virtual private psychiatry practice and is available for referral for psychiatric consults from patients who have a stable family physician.

At its heart, the report is about people: the rural, remote, First Nations and Métis communities helping shape health care priorities; the providers working to sustain local care; and the relationships that make rural health work possible.

Reminder for clinics on the Private Physician Network (PPN)
Last month the Provincial Health Services Authority announced the Private Physician Network (PPN) will be decommissioned on September 4, 2026. All clinics using the PPN will need to transition to a new provider for internet, security, and managed network services to access electronic medical records.
FPSC is here to support and advise all PPN clinics throughout the transition.
Important information:

Clinics must transition from the PPN before September 4, 2026, or they risk service disruptions and losing access to clinical systems.

Transitioning from the PPN isn’t as simple as buying internet service. New networks must be properly configured with the required security measures to protect against cyber threats and privacy breaches.
