What you are saying is true of those who want everything to give way to them, nothing to oppose them, everything to go their way... St. Vincent de Paul

When I joined the Society forty-four years ago, I did so as a founding member of a new conference in Oklahoma City. The conference consisted of ten Vincentians and one nun who served as our Spiritual Advisor. We had two retirees and the rest of us were working middle-aged professionals with children still at home.

A Persevering Fidelity

As Vincentians, our primary purpose is our own growth in holiness. Achieving this is very closely tied to another core tenet of our spirituality, which is that our “ideal is to help relieve suffering for love alone, without thinking of any reward or advantage for [ourselves].”

🌞 July VESS Update

Greetings wonderful Vincentians, and happy summer!

Thank you so much to everyone who supported our very first staff food drive. We were truly overwhelmed—in the best way—by the incredible support from our conference presidents, board members, and Vincentians. From bringing donations to district and board meetings to dropping off food directly for our VESS team, your generosity made this effort a tremendous success.

Topic: Preparing for an Upcoming Conference or District Election

The major and initial responsibility rests with the current office holder. Getting someone to succeed the President starts many months or even years before. The first step is to try to identify one or more willing candidates.

Ideally, a potential President is groomed and trained, moving up from a Vice-Presidency or other officer position. It is certainly the model situation to have the President-to-Be work closely with the President during his or her last year in office. While that is not always possible, we can do psychological grooming of future Conference Presidents.
