There have been amendments to the Cook Islands Air Border Entry Requirements which come into force 01 March 2022. Amendments are as follows:

  • Children under the age of 5 years and 3 months are now exempt from the vaccination requirement - the change relates to travellers from Group 1 (Visitors/tourists)
  • There is now an exemption to allow entry to partially vaccinated children under 12 years - this change relates to travellers from Groups 2 (Diplomats & Permit Holders) & 3 (Cook Islanders & Cook Islands Permanent Residents)
  • Entry is now allowed to travellers (Groups 1, 2 & 3) who return a positive PCR test but are no longer infectious. A letter will be required from either the NZ Ministry of Health or their General Practitioner confirming the traveller is a historic case and no longer infectious.

What happens if you test positive for COVID-19?

It is important that you are aware of what is in place to care for and manage the country's confirmed cases of COVID-19. Te Marae Ora has recently confirmed information outlining isolation & quarantine periods, and available quarantine facilities should alternative accommodation be required and what to expect during your Isolation & Quarantine period.

➡️ This is what you need to know about Isolation & Quarantine

Do you have a registered COVID-19 Health & Safety Officer?

As regulated in the COVID-19 (Public Health Measures) Regulations 2021, all businesses or services (including Government agencies) with 2 or more employees must appoint a COVID-19 Health & Safety Officer (C-19H&SO). It is important that all tourism industry members who are required to, nominate and register an employee/s. This will streamline effective COVID-19 communications on guest management, industry notifications and training. The C-19H&SO will be the visitors' first point of contact should they have any concerns around the latest COVID-19 situation, and provide assistance should things need to escalate to TMO or other relevant support agencies.

Instructions below to register your C-19H&SO, if you haven’t done so already:

  1. Register as an H&S Officer first, click HERE
  2. Then, complete the Online Training, click HERE (Click on the “Sign up for Free” tab and fill in details, which will then take you to the training course)

Ensure your guests/patrons are made aware of who your C-19H&SO is and how to contact them. For more information contact Carlene Mapu on carlene.mapu@cookislands.gov.ck
