The first step in ensuring no learner is left behind lies in being able to see – and address – the early warning signs of a learner who may be at risk. And it all starts with data.
By submitting accurate information to SA-SAMS and DDD each week, education officials can use the DDD Dashboard to track trends and pinpoint issues like absenteeism or subjects where a learner might be struggling. In the weeks ahead the DDD team will be sharing tips and training on the value of weekly submissions and how to translate these into useful insights via the Term to Date section of the dashboard. Don’t miss next week’s webinars on Thursday and Friday, and keep reading for more details... |

Minimising learner drop-outs starts with identifying and tracking potential risk factors – but you can only do that accurately if your dashboard data is current. Give yourself the advantage by ensuring you submit data to SA-SAMS and DDD every week. |

Subject specialists in North West put their mental prowess to the test during a recent DDD training session. The focus was on logging in to and navigating the DDD Dashboard, as part of the broader Master Trainer initiative in the province. |

Submitting data to SA-SAMS and DDD (via Valistractor) every single week gives education officials a way to track the early indicators of a potential learner at risk – and the chance to address this before it becomes an issue. Here are the top four provinces that have the highest percentage of schools consistently submitting weekly data in Term 2 so far: |

Does your dashboard Overview page look different? It should! As of 1 May we have simplified this page to help ensure faster loading times and better overall dashboard performance. When we launched the upgraded dashboard 18 months ago, we promised that we would continue to enhance the platform, based on your feedback, and this is the latest example of how we are doing it. See below for the details, and please let us know what you think. |

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT
Upcoming DDD changes |
We have removed some of the more complex statistics from the Overview section to ensure officials can access this page faster. All the same details are still repeated elsewhere on the dashboard, but for a quick view of what to expect and where to find everything, click below |
|
To help officials track absent learners in more detail, the sub-entities table on the Term to Date page (below the attendance section) now includes an indicator of learners absent for 10+ consecutive days. We have also added school EMIS numbers in the drop-down list. |
|
Building on the enhancements made to the Overview page, the DDD team is currently testing similar updates on the Detail and Achievement sections of the dashboard. User feedback is in progress, with changes expected to go live in the month ahead. Keep an eye on this space for updates. |

Ms Selowa adds that the dashboard enables the SMT to make strategic decisions for their school. “With a click of a button you get all the information you need.” |
|
A key advantage of DDD is that you don’t have to do data manipulation, says Mr Movalo. “It is all there, pre-populated for you. This is a very valuable tool for schools.” |
|
Mr Sepobe points out that since the inception of DDD he has learnt a great deal, and that it is time to “showcase our digital success story to the rest of the world”. |
