National Child Safety Amendments in WA1 November 2026The Education and Care Legislation and Intergovernmental Relations (ECLIR) Team are pleased to advise you that the national Child Safety Amendments will soon come into operation in Western Australia on 1 November 2026. We appreciate the sector’s patience and support as WA moved to ‘applied’ national legislation and worked through the steps required to bring in these important child safety amendments into WA. To support a smooth transition, compliance dates for some requirements have been extended for WA services. It has been encouraging to see the WA sector proactively embrace these changes ahead of their formal commencement. The Minister for Early Childhood has acknowledged the sector’s strong commitment to child safety, with more than 86% of WA services already registering their workers and over 29,000 workers having completed the Foundation child safety training. To support the sector in preparing for these changes, we will be hosting webinars to introduce the Child Safety Amendments and answer any questions. Webinars will cover the same content and are being offered on different dates to provide greater flexibility for attendees. The sessions will include information on the main reform areas, key compliance dates, and where to find further guidance, resources, and relevant legislation. To become better acquainted with the expected changes, please refer to the updated Guide to the NQF and Summary of Child Safety Review changes 2025-2026. Please register for one of the following webinars (the same session will be delivered on both dates): Thank you for your ongoing commitment to child safety and quality early childhood education and care. We look forward to engaging with the sector through these webinars and encourage you to share this invitation with your colleagues. |
