If a learner requests a reference:

• Official references: We do not provide formal or official reference statements.
• Informal/supportive comments: You may choose to write a supportive, informal comment via email if the student is over 18. This is not required or expected—it’s entirely your choice.
• Under 18 learners: For safeguarding reasons, do not respond directly to students under 18. Instead, forward the request to CST, who will respond appropriately.

If you do choose to send a personal note:

• Use your UAL email address, not a personal one.

• Do not refer to the college name (e.g., Central Saint Martins or CSM).

• Please use “UAL Short Courses” in any reference to the course or organisation.

Summer School tutor briefings - June

We’re looking forward to welcoming you to this year’s Summer School! Please join one of the upcoming Tutor Briefing sessions, where we’ll cover:

• Course start information
• Rooms, materials, and equipment
• Safeguarding guidance
• IT and AV support
• End-of-course processes
• Q&A with the Short Course team

These briefings are a great opportunity to prepare for teaching and to connect with other tutors.

📍 In-Person Briefing – 16th June (CSM, Room D107)

5.30 – 6.30 PM – For Onsite Tutors
A practical session focused on key information for delivering onsite courses.

6.30 – 7.30 PM – For All Tutors (Onsite & Online)
Join us for drinks and nibbles, meet the Short Course staff and other tutors.
(Weather permitting, we’ll move outside to the grass by the canal!)

💻 Online Briefing – 17th June, 5.00 – 6.00 PM (via Teams)

This session will cover the same content as the in-person briefing, with time for questions.
It will be recorded for those who can’t attend live.

Induction Slides – Help Us Share Student Success

Please remember to highlight the social media and feedback slide towards the end of your induction presentation at the start of your course.

We encourage tutors to remind students to tag #UALShortCourses when posting their work or course experiences on Instagram, TikTok, or other platforms. This is a fantastic way to showcase the creativity and outcomes from your course!

• The UAL Marketing Team often reshapes and reposts tagged content.

• In some cases, they may reach out to students for interviews or features to help promote the impact of UAL Short Courses.

If you’re aware of any past students who have gone on to do something exciting—professionally, academically, or creatively—please let us know. We’d love to share their stories and shine a spotlight on your course.
