P11D reminder
P11Ds - the deadline is rapidly approaching

P11Ds 2020/21 Reminder

If you’re an employer and provide expenses or benefits to employees or directors, you might need to tell HMRC and pay tax and National Insurance on them. At the end of each tax year you will usually need to submit P11D forms to HMRC for each employee that you have provided with expenses or benefits. The deadline for these submissions is 6th July 2021.

Have you completed your online P11D from DRG?
In May, the DRG tax team sent out an email with our online P11D questionnaire, which should provide us with all of the information we need to complete your P11Ds - or alternatively inform us if P11Ds are not required for the year.

It is important that, even if you do not believe P11Ds are needed for the company, that the questionnaire is still completed and submitted to us; this should take no more than a few minutes of your time.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with the DRG tax team.

Tax Investigation Service
Our Tax Investigation Protection Service

How could a tax investigation affect you and your business?

A tax investigation is when HMRC makes enquiries into your tax affairs. This can range from a phone call to a full blown investigation where they will go through the full books and records.

Just because you haven't done anything wrong doesn't mean that you can't be investigated. There doesn’t need to be a reason for HMRC to trigger an investigation. Every taxpayer who submits a tax return is at risk. Whether you win or lose, you will always have to pay the cost of handling the investigation, which is over and above our normal DRG fees and the costs involved could be substantial.

Sign up to our Tax Investigation Service
Shortly, we will be emailing our clients with details on either how to renew or how to take up our Tax Investigation Protection Service. If you have any questions, in the meantime, please take a look at our website or get in touch with our Tax Team.

Pythagoras acquired by Ernst & Young LLP

Microsoft Gold Partner, Pythagoras, has been acquired by EY

Ernst & Young LLP has acquired UK-based Microsoft Gold Partner, Pythagoras, in a move to reinforce EY’s goal to increase the range of technology services it provides to clients. Pythagoras will bring to EY additional capabilities across a range of Microsoft Business Applications, such as Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure.

Founded in 1999, Pythagoras now has 3 UK offices, in Maidenhead, Solihull and London, employs over 130 people and has more than 140 clients, with a particular focus on the higher education, local government and financial services sectors.

Over the past ten years, prior to this acquisition, Pythagoras worked with DRG Chartered Accountants. Over this time DRG supported the company with accounting, audit and advisory services to help its growth – this included two acquisitions, management buyouts, employee share option schemes, R&D tax credits and now the successful sale to EY.

“We are delighted to have worked with Pythagoras since 2009,” said Daniel Reid, Partner at DRG Chartered Accountants. “Pythagoras’ sale to EY presents a fantastic opportunity for the business to achieve its ambitious growth plans and to bring its key skills and capabilities to EY’s Technology and Consulting division.” Read more
