Neighbourhood Framework - Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads project update 2
In April 2022, we invited project stakeholders to provide survey feedback on the draft Nobby Beach and Miami North Station Neighbourhoods Concept plan and the draft Christine Avenue and Second Avenue Station Neighbourhoods Concept plan. Thank you to everybody who participated in this process.
The survey results, in conjunction with initial feedback received from Community Reference Group (CRG) members throughout the concept planning process have informed the finalisation of the Station Neighbourhood Concept plans. The concept planning process with CRG members was undertaken between October 2021 to February 2022.
Endorsed by Council on 25 July 2022, the Concept plans have now been published online and are available to download from the ‘project documents’ section of goldcoast.qld.gov.au/nfbb. Further information, including Planning and Environment Committee reports, are also available to view on the project webpage.
The Concept plans present key planning and design elements that will shape the future of these Stations Neighbourhoods. These elements will help inform the City’s priorities in this local area, as well as a future amendment to the Gold Coast City Plan (City Plan).
It should be noted that the Concept plans are not statutory policy. Existing City Plan (Version 8) provisions that determine how the local area can currently develop remain unchanged. Information regarding City Plan is available here – cityplan.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/eplan/
A draft amendment for the Neighbourhood Framework is yet to be prepared for Council consideration, with timing intended to be from late 2022 to mid-2023. The future City Plan amendment will follow the required statutory process and be publicly advertised for the community to submit submissions on the proposed changes. Further opportunities to provide feedback on future planning within the Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads corridor can be provided at this stage.
