23rd September 2022A Message from the Head... ![]() With the opening of The Old Vicarage as our new Sixth Form Centre last week, it has been a pleasure to start a series of Open House events so that parents can see our new provision for themselves. Last night, it was the turn of our current Sixth Form parents to be shown around the building by their children and this will be followed by 2 similar events next week - Upper 5 on Monday evening and Lower 5 on Tuesday evening. So far everyone seems to love the space we have created for our most senior pupils! Our Sixth Form information evening is also fast approaching and is open to our current Upper 5 pupils and their parents as well as anyone external to Gateways who may be looking for a Sixth Form place for September 2023. The evening will start in The Old Vicarage for anyone who hasn't yet seen it and then everyone will move to the PAC for the formal part of the evening. If you know of anyone who might be interested in joining the Sixth Form in September 2023, please share the following link with them and encourage them to book a place and come along on Monday 10th October. Sixth Form Information Evening - external invitation Having accepted our first boy into this year's Lower 6, we are inviting applications from boys and girls to join the Sixth Form next September, so all are truly welcome! Sadly all slots to visit High School are now completely booked out, including for the reserve day on Monday 10th October! At time of writing there is one slot left to visit the Prep and only a few left to visit our Early Years setting and our Sixth Form. Booking is via our TryBooking links below for anyone you would like to share the links with. - Dr Tracy Johnson - Pupil NewsSummer to star in Dick Whittington panto![]() Upper 3 pupil Summer Bell has successfully auditioned to be one of 18 dancers in this years pantomime Dick Whittington at Wakefield Theatre Royal. This is Summer’s third professional pantomime and she can’t wait to get stuck into rehearsals next week. Details will follow nearer the time about dates/tickets for those who would like to attend and see Summer in action. Lower 3 residential to Willersley Castle![]() Last week Upper 3 enjoyed a 2 night residential to Willersley Castle. The main aim of the residential was to foster new friendships and develop a sense of being part of the year group and High School. The pupils took part in a variety of outdoor activities including canoeing and kayaking, aeroball, via ferrata, climbing, initiative exercises and axe throwing! On one of the evenings, a night walk was enjoyed where we learnt about the varied history of the castle and on the other, the pupils sampled a castle campfire.
