Click here 19 October 2023Cr Karen Pensabene, Mayor of Strathfield Dear Residents, I was delighted to attend the 2023 Community Grant Recipient Ceremony on Tuesday at Strathfield Library and Innovation Hub. 30 groups were awarded funding to facilitate the delivery of programs which support our local community. From healthy living seminars to cultural events and a female coach mentoring program, there’s an array of programs for our residents to take part in. I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the winners of this year’s Community Grants Program. We are excited to see how your projects will take shape and the impact they will have on the lives of our residents. Laker Reserve is home to Council’s Community Garden – a space for our community to collectively harvest vegetables and meet new friends. We’re hosting an Open Day on Saturday 28 October from 9am – 12pm to revitalise this space, head to our website to register your spot and help a communal greenspace thrive. Our Community Choir is back for it’s 4th term on Wednesdays from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Homebush West Community Centre. Children and Youth Drop-In for Children's Week 2023 Council is hosting a special Children and Youth Drop-In for Children's Week 2023 at the library on 26 October from 3pm - 5pm for those aged 5 - 12 years. There will be facepainting, crafts and games! Conversation Club This club is a weekly group focused on improving fluency and learning new vocabulary through informal group discussions. This is a great way to practise speaking English and get to know more people from the Strathfield area. Looking For Local Heroes Each year, Strathfield Council announce a Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year for local citizens/groups who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
