New training for Insurance Brokers

Developed in partnership with the National Insurance Brokers Association WA and the Insurance Council of Australia WA, WorkCover WA recently launched an online training program, assisting brokers to better understand the workers’ compensation scheme and claims management process within Western Australia. #brokerstrainingwa
Stakeholder engagement visit
Delivering education to the regions
To engage with stakeholders across the regions, WorkCover WA Inspectors recently visited Kalgoorlie to conduct compliance checks and provide education about workers’ compensation.The visit was well received, and stakeholder feedback highlighted the existence of language barriers, with insurance brokers reporting difficulty conveying the importance of workers’ compensation insurance to employers with limited English skills.
New Workplace Rehabilitation Providers Principles and Standards
WorkCover WA is scheduled to release the Workplace Rehabilitation Providers Principles and Standards of Practice (the Principles and Standards) on 1 July 2021. The publication provides clear service expectations, ensuring workplace rehabilitation providers (WRPs) deliver high quality services to support injured workers returning to work. An official launch breakfast will be held on 29 July at Fraser's Restaurant Kings Park.

WorkCover WA have joined Monash University as a research partner to support the Implementing work-related Mental health guidelines in general PRactiCE (IMPRovE) trial. Monash University would like to hear from general practitioners to help improve care for patients who suffer from depression, anxiety or stress as a result of work.
Personal Injury and Disability Management National Conference 2021
WorkCover WA are proudly sponsoring the 2021 Personal Injury and Disability Management National Conference, to be held in Queensland from 12-14 July 21. Hosted by the Personal Injury Education Foundation, the conference will highlight outstanding developments in mental health, well-being and recovery which assist in a client’s return to work following an injury, as well as the continued innovation in programs, practices and systems, which assist industry professionals to deliver client support.
