Cr John-Paul Baladi, Mayor of Strathfield

Dear Residents,

This year we’re introducing a brand-new initiative, Strathfield Seniors Sessions, made possible through funding from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice’s Connecting Seniors Grant Program. This free event will give seniors the opportunity to connect with others while trying golf and croquet. The first session will be held at Hudson Park Driving Range from 10am - 11:30am on Monday 26 May. Head to our website to register and for more information.

I am delighted to announce that Council is continuing to invest in Strathfield’s future through a range of new initiatives:

  • Supporting our schools: Council has commenced an independent review of the right of way currently crossing the College grounds, aiming to balance public access with school safety. We’ve also extended the College’s use of Hudson Park Oval and invited them to collaborate on future improvements to this key sporting space.
  • Enhancing local design and beautification: A new policy is under investigation to promote classical and high-quality architecture in Strathfield—rewarding designs that reflect the unique character of our suburbs while improving built form outcomes.
  • Reviewing garage planning allowances: Council is reviewing planning controls to expand garage provisions where appropriate, responding to modern household needs and easing pressure on our streets.

As always, if you have a local concern or idea you’d like to share, you can reach me on 0478 054 241 or at cr.jpbaladi@strathfield.nsw.gov.au.
