Dear Valued Customer,

We have updated the Swim Lesson website with all of the current Fall information. Please read through it as there are some changes. This is the second of two emails on our updated swim lesson information for Fall 2023. It contains a link to our updated swim lesson page. We hope you enjoy the changes we have made in response to your feedback. FEES FOR CLASSES

There are no grants for free swim lessons available, but there are scholarships available for residents of Des Moines and Normandy Park of 90% of the class price. Below prices are for the 8 class-session.

SCHOLARSHIP PRE-APPROVAL EVENT

The Mount Rainier Pool will host a pre-approval scholarship event on Wednesday, September 6 from 4:00-7:00pm. The event will be to help patrons complete their paperwork, and get pre-approved for scholarships, when registration opens the following week. Note-scholarship pre-approval does not guarantee a spot in a class and just a reminder scholarships usually take up to ten (10) business days. Click here for more information on scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
We have updated our scholarship program including a simplified process, resident focus, and 90% coverage for all programs! The scholarship program is for residents only (Des Moines and Normandy Park). Click here  to view our scholarship page for more information.

DEFINITION OF CURRENT STUDENT

Current Students* must have attended the last session of swim lessons. We define the last session of classes as 

• Monday Evenings (7/10-8/14)
• Wednesday Evenings (7/5-8/16)
• Monday-Thursday Mornings (8/7-8/17) 
• Summer Evening Adult Lessons (7/11-8/3)

*People that attended Monday & Wednesday or Tuesday & Thursday July classes are not considered "Current Students."

NEW SCHEDULE! PRACTICE TIME (NOW WITH FREE PARENT USAGE)

The district is dedicated to help youth become better swimmers and more comfortable in the water. We realize that swim lessons alone are not enough, and that practice is key to your child's success. This summer we will allow current youth swim participants and one parent* free entry during the following times.

FREE PRACTICE OPTION TIMES

• Saturday, 11:30am-12:30pm

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO PRACTICE WITH YOUR CHILD?

1. PLAY: Playing in the water with your children will help them apply their skills in a fun manner.
2. COMFORT: Swimming with your child will help them be more comfortable around the water.
3. BONDING: For teaching younger children, helping support them and perform the skills is a great activity to do together.
4. SUCCESS: Moving up levels in swim lessons takes not only learning, but mastering swim skills.
5. SUPPORT: Practicing with your child shows that you are willing to help them succeed.
