![]() December 2022![]() A Message from the Dean of Students Dear parents, guardians, and family members, Our fall semester wraps up next week, and on the last day of classes, the campus will celebrate its 22nd annual MidKnight Breakfast in the Red Jacket Dining Hall. The long-standing Geneseo tradition provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to meet, greet, and eat a late-evening breakfast together. Also by tradition, the faculty and staff cook and serve for the students, encouraging them as they recharge before their final exams. Events such as these always remind me how much our individual achievements depend on our close bonds as a community. With each successful semester, with every rewarding year, we reaffirm that we are, as always, One Knight. This Family Newsletter offers useful information for both you and your student. If you’d like more news about the College, you can subscribe to the monthly community edition of Geneseo’s e-newsletter One College Circle or follow Geneseo on Facebook or other social media platforms. And as always, if you have any questions or concerns, you can feel free to contact me or the Center for Community staff. We’re more than happy to assist you. We here at Geneseo wish you and your loved ones the very best during the holiday season and a healthy, happy beginning to the new year. Lenny Sancilio Happy holidays from everyone at SUNY Geneseo! Michele the therapy dog has been making appearances across campus as the fall semester winds down. To avoid feeling stressed, students are encouraged to look at the exam schedule in advance of finals week to identify any concerns. Students can also check out our Mental Health Quick Resources List or reach out to our Counseling Services center for help. Residence halls close for winter break on Wednesday, December 21 at 10 a.m. Students do not need to take everything home and can leave items in their rooms. Students who are not returning to Geneseo for the spring semester must meet with their AC or RD to formally check-out and return their room key. After break, returning students move in on Sunday, January 22 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at their residence hall. No check-in process is required—just park in the lot nearest your student’s residence hall and unload your vehicle. Winter Break Stay and Early Arrival requests are being accepted and reviewed until December 11. If your student has not yet gotten a flu shot, they are encouraged to contact Student Health and Counseling to schedule one. Student Health also has some COVID test kits available for students, which can be picked up in Lauderdale or in residence halls. Students can easily pick one up before they go home for the holidays. Spring 2023 semester eBills will be sent in mid-December and are due January 6. Payment should be made by the due date to avoid assessment of a late payment fee and hold on student records. eBills are accessible at the Student Account Center. We encourage students to set up authorized payers if a parent or any other third party will be helping them with their college bill. Resources The Geneseo Bookstore is now accepting Spring 2023 textbook orders. Ordering early not only helps your student receive used copies and save money, it also helps ensure they’re prepared for the first day of spring classes. Book orders can either be shipped to your home address or selected for in-store pick up. Students can see their course materials list by clicking on the "Books" tab in the MyGeneseo portal. Is your student graduating this year? Do they have words of wisdom or a unique perspective to share with their fellow students? Encourage them to apply for the Senior Oration! Each year, a senior student is selected to deliver their own message at commencement. This year, it could be yours. It’s not too late for students to register for Intersession and Spring 2023 courses, but time is growing short. Check with your student to ensure they get the classes they need for their major and graduation requirements. ![]() What would you like to read about in the Family Newsletter? Let us know! ![]() |
